And they wonder why some people pirate movies

This coupon for a free 7 day rental from Rogers Video showed up in my e-mail today. I printed it out and went over to the place to pick something up. First, I grabbed a new release (Next with Cage/Biel/some other chick) that I hadn't heard of. I went to the counter and gave the guy the coupon and he said it didn't apply to 2 day rentals. Yeah, that was my bad. I asked if I could just use the coupon and keep it for only 2 days, he said that wouldn't work.

I went back to look around for a 7 day rental and came across "Signs" with Mel Gibson. I've seen it before but it's a decent movie, so I grabbed that. Went to the counter, he opened it up to check if it was the right one...nope. Pan's Labyrinth was inside. He looked on the shelf for Pan's Labyrinth to see if the cases were mixed up. It wasn't there.

So...I ended up leaving without a movie. You'd think their customer service instincts would kick in and they'd let me grab that 2 day release to make up for their mistake...nope.

For a little while, I had forgotten why I don't rent movies.

I've seen Pan's Labyrinth and wasn't impressed with subtitles. I like to watch my movies, not read them. I might as well just read the book.

So, Next, Pan's Lab, and Signs were the only movies they had there?

There were plenty in the 7day section, but I've either seen them recently, own them, or didn't care to see them.

Now I remember why I always thought of you as a whiny bitch... :p
(Joke!)

I've had that happen at Blockbuster several times--we stopped in for movies and could not find anything interesting. It totally sucks when you have something in mind to see and it isn't available--everything else just sucks afterwards.

And FWIW...Next was actually decent enough....
