Where I used to work, the building was right next door to the fire station and whenever they ran the monthly siren tests it always felt like my head would split open. I always thought that your head would spontaneously explode if it were right up next to the siren.

I can't till the day they sound off the tsunami, earth quake, tornado, and meteor shower sirens at the same time in my city.

Dedication... :D

I was at home on lunch, watching the Cosby Show on TBS...

They had an Emergency Broadcast, and i thought... "What the hell did Fausto do now?"

I didn't realize until I moved away from home that sirens were not a part of every day life for most people. The end of recess in elementary school was signaled by the noon fire whistle, same time every day. The sound is really kinda haunting, when you think about it. Can you imagine being in London, Dresden, or Frankfurt and hearing that thing in the middle of the night? Probably would give terrible flashbacks to people from that era if they heard it now.

Just got out of the basement at work. They made us stay down there for almost an hour. Just think about how much that costs the company? To have hundreds of engineers just standing around waiting for the weather to clear up!

No not drills.

12 O'clock noon, it goes off.

For calls:

3 long blasts for Rescue call.

6 short blasts for a Fire call.

HBD, how about them winds? Got a few car alarms set off in our parking lot.

We didn't see a tornado here, but it was fun wasting half an hour in the basement anyway. Sorry I mean "fun".

The sirens came on about 3 seconds after I hit the power button on my new rig I put together. For a second I was like "wtf is going on"?

Quite the downpour a couple of times, wasn't it?
