I do not care if my government is keeping track on me or not. The government already has all my personal information anyway. Besides, i have nothing to hide.

What i am the most afraid of is sloppy IT security in the government when it comes to all that personal information. I am more afraid of the government being hacked and that my personal information is used by criminals using my bank account numbers and personal information that is often used to verify that i am who i am before some business deal is done. That later on some IS happy hacker (yes, some people who are fond of IS can very well be very skilled in hacking too) is using my identity to purchase goods.

And indeed i am worried if the people working for the government are screened for having enough integrity when it comes to handling my personal information.
This year, it was found out that there where a lot of corrupt people at the tax department in my country. Using their clearance to steal money.

Here's the problem JC when has Politician made better domestic spying their platform. See my previous comment for my concerns. While I don't think that's happened now I do believe it will happen.

Actually, there was a politician that ran a political ad here in Colorado about NSA spying. Not sure if he won or not. But our represenitives work for US and they are the ones you complain to for shit to change. I belive there are a lot of privacy lobbies, right?

The problem with trying to rein in these spying programs is that it only takes one Boston Bombing like case for the security folks to crush the opponents of the spying programs. Imagine if Obama had curtailed even a single spying program before the Boston Bombing -- do you think for a second that the security forces using such programs would fail to highlight that fact to the public with the claim that, "if only that program had not be stopped..."

This isn't a Rep versus Dem thing, no leader wants to explain why he stopped a spying program after a terrorist attack like the Boston Bombing. It matters not that the Boston Bombers managed to carry out there attack in spite of all the spying programs we have AND in spite of the fact that the Russians warned us about them before hand.

I don't want to do my timesheets every damned week, but that's part of my job. Politicians are paid very well to do their jobs; they get far and above what the sticker says on the front. They need to do their jobs, and not pander to the lowest common denominator. Good leaders think, and do what's right. Bad leaders rule by spreadsheet, and perform tricks like a common dog.

And good leaders serve one term given the way things work.

That's such old news that private companies are now chartered to fly the equipment all over the world for intercept.

If a technology is mature enough to be used in an expeditionary setting, you can bet your bottom dollar that it's been designed, tested and deployed on the home front.

Any and EVERY American should know that they have no freedom or rights.

We are talking about a country created by slave owners that told you "all men are created equal".

Marketing and selling BS is what this country does best. Here we almost 250 years later and Americans STILL think they have freedom or rights.

:hmm:

TODAY, police and government can come to your door and strip you of EVERYTHING. In the name of terrorism or drugs.

And no, you won't have any rights to a trial or anything along the line. Wishful thinking though.
