it's a decent car, but all the ones i see with 50k or more have front end noises and plenty of squeaks and rattles. i have doubts about their long term reliability/durability.

not like that's ever mattered in their car/truck of the year awards, though.

They just need to make a Fusion SHO with the AWD/ecoboost setup, that would be tits.

I too like the new Mustang very much - Ford is cranking out some nice looking machines.

Psssst. By all means, don't allow facts to get in the way of your anecdotal evidence:

http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Ford_Fusion/Reliability/
http://www.leftlanenews.com/consumer-reports-ford-fusion-on-par-with-accord-camry.html
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2009/ford/fusion/101010847/reliability.html

And ayabe - I would LOVE an all-wheel-drive fusion with the 3.5 ecoboost making 370 hp. If they priced it for under 30, I'd be on it in a heartbeat.

I love my 2008 V6 SE. I only wish I had the money to go with the SEL (automatic headlights, better wheels, climate control, etc.), AWD, and SYNC. Oh well. If I had the cash for that, I'd probably be considering a 2010 anyway.

I just priced out a Fusion 3.5 AWD with navigation and it was nearly 34K...I nearly shit myself.

don't allow real world experience to get in the way of your internet links.

if you hadn't noticed, i'm a supporter of ford. and the fusion still doesn't match the (good) japs in quality.

I doubt you'd actually pay that, though. Shortly before I bought mine, my dad priced out a new 2009 V6 SE with all available options (sun roof, leather, sport appearance package - 18" wheels, stiffer suspension, etc. - upgraded head unit and speakers, etc. etc.). It came out to $29k. I think he paid about $20-22k in the end.

For the 2010 Sport AWD, I'd expect to pay somewhere around $26k.

i agree, we will just let time tell. the fusion is as much COTY as the Honda Ridgeline was truck of the year. If you guys can't acknowledge that it was a great truck when it won the award, then i can't admit the fusion is a great car now.

the fusion is still an infant in car reliability tests, give it 20 years like the accord and camry have been on the market and we'll see if it holds up to its name like the A&C do...

As an 8 month owner I can say, kudos Ford! Brilliant car. All the reliability/economy of Jap competitors but with none of the price premium and (imo) better looks except the grille on new models (too big, my 07s grille is much better), and less shoot-me-know-this-car-is-so-boring-to-drive than honda and toyota

I had it as a rental once. There was nothing spectacular about it, power was pretty crappy. The seats were uncomfortable. Granted it was probably the lowly base model, but I just don't see anything so great about it. I wonder if it would have won the award if they named it what it really is , a Tempo.

The Ford Fusion....

There may be a little hometown bias in there...but either way it is a solid car and this is good news for Ford... Hopefully this will only improve sales and continue to help Ford put out highly competitive cars.

I dont think MT can fit any more bias in their office beyond their love of everything BMW.

I have zero experience with the new redesign, but my buddy has a original model and its a great car for what it is

Power was lacking because before the refresh, it was still using the 2.3L MZR engine which was not powerful enough for a larger midsize sedan.

The Fusion refresh uses the significantly more powerful 2.5L MZR, which is the same engine that the Mazda6 uses. Aside from overly bling chrome grille, the Fusion is hands down the best Domestic brand sedan on the market.

Ford ftw! Government Motors = loose.

I just had one as a rental car...a Ford Fusion SE.

1) My past two rentals have been Fords, a Focus and a Fusion.
2) Both were nicer than any Toyota I have had.
3) I was impressed with the Fusion's I4. Rev-happy. One of the best 4s I've driven.
4) The "manual" shift mode on the AT had 6-speeds. A first for me. Very nice.
5) Stock audio was better than any rental I've had costing under $25K. Next best thing is the Volvo S40, followed by the HK system found in the BMW 3-series.

If the Focus and Fusion are an indication, I like where Ford is going...all without government involvement.

great, louisss gave me the kiss of death.

it's not that i hate the fusion, it's just that, while slightly nicer than a camry or accord when new, it doesn't seem to age as well. ford's building more like the europeans nowadays, and the cars are more solid, but japanese k.i.s.s. philosophy still seems to win out. fusion's certainly not a bad car, i just don't see it as being the BEST thing out there in any respect.

Ridgeline sucked when it was introduced, and it still sucks. That's not a truck.

i guess motor trend gives our car/truck of the year awards to shitty cars/trucks!

of all the people in here saying the fusion is some sick shit, do you own one? pics?

Its not a truck, its an odyssey with the back chopped off. My neighbor in my old apartment had one, I think it got like 16 mpg city. My Tahoe gets 16 city...with a 5.3 liter V8

Exactly. 250 HP for 16 MPG is disgusting, and hell, 250 HP in a "truck" is disgusting too.

Little explanation of these pics, I took all these pictures when the car was fresh of the dealership lot. Which explains the dashboard having only 15 miles on it, now I have 10,000! And as of right now averaging out my tanks of gas I have a long term fuel economy of about 47.3MPG

I checked out the Fusion today, along with several other cars. At the pricepoint these sell for, I can't find a comparable car. Everything else either costs more or offers less. I can see why it got COTY.

I agree after test driving one last night. It really does pack a lot of value at its price point. Just wish the styling was a little more to my liking.

Hmm,
Sorry to break it to you, but it is basically a Jap car with Ford badges applied to it.

Edit: I love how Ford words things...
Let me give you this example:

"Duratec 25

The Duratec 25, or Duratec 2.5L I-4, is an evolution of the Duratec 23. 'Duratec 25' should not be confused with the similarly named 2.5L V6 Ford Duratec. The new Duratec 25 is an inline 4-cylinder engine design that is identical[citation needed] to the Mazda MZR 2.5L. The bore and stroke have increased to 89 mm x 100mm and as such now displaces 2488 cc | 151ci. Power has been increased to 171hp@6000 rpm and 171lb-ft@4500 rpm torque. A Hybrid Duratec 25 will be replacing the Hybrid Duratec 23."

All this bull shit could be summarized in one sentence: Duratec 25 is a different name and badge slapped on Mazda MZR 2.5L engine.
