I see a mob that's finaly found a witch to burn. And in Georgia, the real dark magician is LHAO.

Some reasons for me NOT to ban dnet:

-dnet didn't sue Dave McOwen, the state of Georgia did.
-Nugget is NOT dnet. *WE* are dnet.
-Nugget may not be part of the solution, that does not make him part of the problem. Georgia is the problem.
-I don't see other distributed projects putting out banners with 'Free Dave'. Ban them.
-If you guys do this and effectively destroy TA's presence in distributed.net, thurbert will probably claim you all chickened out because you were all hacking criminals.
Considering the amount of intellect the prosecution has shown this far, this wiil probably be enough reason for yet another stupid lawsuit against an innocent person.

-If an entire mob gets _this_ upset by some (probably misquoted) comment, i just may begin to understand how the prosecution decided to sue Dave.
They probably needed a witch too.

Above is _my_ opinion. Please don't blame my team (DPC) for my actions, as you blame dnet for Nuggets actions.

Pinball,
You are certainly entitled to your opinions.

This by the way is not a simple lawsuit, which is civil in nature.

It is not one, but TWO Felony counts - which are criminal charges.

Do what you please. dnet is out of line due to Nuggett's comments and attitudes - that is the opinion of many of us, who are equally entitled to ours.

And so we all are entitled to our opinions. Except for nugget that is.
Because he can't say: "I certainly don't think 30 years in jail is appropriate" without being evil in person.

Pinball, there is no lawsuit. It's a criminal prosecution. What everyone's up in arms about is the quote that seems to imply that we are acting without thinking. I'll let someone else dig it up for you because I've got to leave for work in a moment here.

<< Distributed.net President David McNett said the punishment sounds severe, but he said that if McOwen didn't have permission to download programs, he shouldn't have participated in the project. "I certainly don't think 30 years in jail is appropriate, but I am equally uncomfortable by the unreasoned response in the Internet community in jumping to his defense," McNett said. "I don't think he's blameless." >>

from news.com article

the "unreasoned response" part is what has folks up in arms
