yea but if they act to childish they just draft him anyways and play him HARD until he looks so bad most teams would not touch him.

Van Poppel was a number 1 pick in baseball but told I think the Braves NOT to draft him. So the A's did. Braves went on to 12 Div. titles and a WS's, while V.P. and the A's did nothing. V.P. has been around a lot of teams and is a bust, he is lucky to be a setup man now for the most part.

I can't believe the Chargers went public with this either! I mean, if the worst teams were supposed to get the best players, they would base the draft on last season's performance. Or something...

I cannot believe Archie Manning would say that. But by the Chargers putting it out there puts alot of pressure on NY to trade for the pick.

I don't blame Manning, I wouldn't want to play for the Chargers, either.

BTW, this isn't anything new, Bo Jackson did the exact same thing when Tamp Bay wanted to draft him. He said if they drafted him, he'd forget football and play baseball, and that's exactly what he did.

Elway threatened not to play if drafted by a certain team also.

it happens, nothing new.

"Archie Manning wouldn't give specific reasons why San Diego was asked to back off. "

Bullshit. He didn't want him to play for a loser team like he had to. There is a better article on CNN/SI or ESPN that goes into more detail. Basically Archie wanted him to go to the Giants where they had a chance, not to a team that usually has a losing record. I've got a feeling he will be a bust anyway. He is half the man that Eli is.

Lol, what if you got drafted straight out of college, and the top spot was for a burger flipper at mcdonalds, with the next few spots being top law firms. Dont you think you'd request not to be picked.

Either way, the dude is gonna make uber bucks playing for someone, and its still no part of my life, so blah blah blah. People get there panties in a wad for the dumbest things.

With this kind of logic and behavior, the league will deteroiate because lack of good quality teams. You'll have all the good players only wanting to go to the good teams, and only the crappy players going to the bad teams. Eventually this will become so dichotomize that there will only be a handful of good teams, and all the other teams would collapse to lack of interest and support.

I don't follow sports, so i have no idea how the drafting system works, but the draftees definitely shouldn't be allowed to choose who they go to. The crappiest teams on the leagues should get the first priority in new picks, so that they can build their team. Or it should be a random lottery for draft order. If only the best teams got the best players, how long do you think the league can survive?

ok, i'll draw it out for you.

you compared flipping burgers with the chargers and spot at Top Law Firms as NE Patriots (as they won the superbowl last year).

do you still not see how moronic that is?

Gary Sheffield.

Draft him and he will toss the ball in the stands.
