eyor,

7.2 has some issues. That's why I'm still running 7.02 or 7.1 on my boxes.

I have been playing with Linux Mandrake 7.1, and shuxclams has helpped a lot with the configuration of it.

I was coding away on one of my linux boxes with the intention of helping Russ. Suddenly, my computer flashed a message to me saying that the Linux Gods were angry at Russ and nothing I would try would help him.

Since I've read this thread, I now know why.

The mandrake 7.2 installation is quite buggy. The only reason I use it is because the full USB support, and the scroll wheel support. Habing said that Redhat 7.0 is also as buggy as hell.

russ - now my Windows box (the one I'm typing on right now), is predicting BSOD's for the foreseeable future for Russ and my Linux box is muttering soemthing about russ having to sacrifice a GNU to the Linux Gods to win them back over to his side.

Sigh, poor Russ.

<grin>

Michael

ps - since Russ is so close to where the Windows power erupts from, this sounds like a very serious matter ...

I love all operating systems. They all deserve to be treated equally without regard for origin.

GreenBeret,

If you want to use your soundcard as a user other than root, you'll have to either 1) setup permissions for the sound card to 644 or 2) setup a user group that has read/write permissions to it. That's one common problem new people (including myself) have had with Slackware. It's a good feature though...you don't want remote users accessing your sound card do you!?
