After going 5 years without a traffic ticket, I got pulled over this morning on my way to work. I was going 54 in a 30, and the fine is $270.

Singles out among a group, were you driving faster than everyone, or was no one else around?

I don't know anyone sane who would drive 30mph on those types of roads... 35 is barely do-able. I try not to go above 44mph though because of that 15mph and over reckless thing. Did you get reckless?

No I didn't get reckless.

I'm not complaining; I was speeding and I was aware of it, and I take full responsibility of the consequences. My mindset right now is whether or not I should go to court. I dont mind the fine, but I'm concerned about what the 2 points will do to my insurance premiums.

Just think about it this way. That $270 fine is basically spread over 5 years of you driving at speeds like that.

ur lucky. here, 25 over is considered reckless endangerment, and an immediate suspension of license.

my google skills fail me - I can't find the # for NY... but it does say it's 6 points on your license if reckless.

Same for me. I got hit going 80 in a 55 after going 6 years without a ticket. However, when the cop saw my address, he realized he was my neighbor and dropped it to 65 in a 55 ($97.75 in court costs, no fine).

That's a bit fast Krunchy ...lol
Yeah I would try not to get those 2 points, it is very annoying when your insurance goes up. You are paying more when you know you normally pay a less... it grinds my gears. My insurance is finally when down a bit after my 2 points in Feb 08.
