No Lifer
until they earned $100 million ...

well its not official yet, but looks as though it will make about $100 in sales for Halo 2. That is just crazy!

I guess they wanted $110 million, if people didnt pirate it early 😛

and $55 of that $100,000,000 is MINE!

Um, it still doesn't make the software piracy OK. Do you think they just gave up on the people who pirated it? Aren't you a software developer? This is the type of thing that affects the work you do.

Exactly. Large revenues don't legitimize piracy.

my whole point of this thread was to show the total sales $$$ ... not start a piracy type thread. guess title is a little misleading.

and me, personally, as a software developer, do not think piracy is large enough to strongly hurt the market.

i have copied xbox games, and i also have real ones. about 99% of my copied games i would have never even though about purchasing. i like to try things out. however when i do like a game, i go purchase it.

We have heard this lame excuse for piracy hundreds of time. It is no more welcome now than it ever was in the past.

um. ok.

i just dont see anything wrong with the try before you buy concept, especially since 99% of stores you buy software from won't let you return anything opened. i dont wanna pay $50 for something that I thought I would enjoy then I don't.

however i do of course find something wrong with people who just constantly get stuff for free, never supporting the actual games/apps they DO enjoy.

im sure everyone on here who has adobe photoshop on their PC payed $1K or whatever it is just to edit photos and what not ...

Then rent games and don't steal them. If you need to "try" a game for longer than the 1-3 day rental period at your local store, sign up for an unlimited-period rental service.

If "you'd never buy it" then don't, and don't steal it either.

well once i 'try' it out, i can easily destroy it. it either goes on a dvdrw or my HD.

and renting is not worth it IMO. they usually dont get games first day they are out, and its a hassle. i havent been to a blockbuster in years.

also, how do you rent computer software?!? never seen a place like that ...

and who here can say they have a LEGAL copy of photoshop they paid for, on their personal computer at home?
