yes there are some football players to be jealous of, but personally I wouldn't want to be a player in a sport where the average "career" lasts 2 years.

Umm... why the hell not? Let's see spend 30 years to make 500k in total networth, or play 8 games in the NFL to get paid one million.

physical ailments, health problems, etc. If you take a look at the economics of sports, the figure released to the public is always way, way higher then the actual amount that finds its way to the player. I remember Marcus Allen mentioning in his biography that half of his signing bonus went straight to uncle sam his rookie year. Stars don't have to worry about it, but the "average" guys don't live like millionaires.

Money wise they still make more then you or me, but being a football player isn't even close to the top of careers i would wish for.

No, average players may not make as much, but have you seen what you make PER year? I'm well aware of taxes, but it is crazy to say that pro-sports don't have some of the highest salaries of any job.
