Well this is interesting. Just as the Dems wanted to include DACA legislation in the budget, Trump is offering amnesty to DACA recipients in exchange for the wall. At the very least it shows he's willing to negotiate.

Of course the GOP isnt happy about this, and the offer will die on the table.

Well, whether or not he held that bargain would be another matter. This is the same man who regularly stiffs contractors and does the things he said he wouldn't, so his word isn't worth that much.

The amnesty would be the short turnaround item and wall construction the long turnaround item. Non-performance of his end will likely mean the wall would never make it past the initial phase gates of feasibility/impact studies and contract bidding.

This is interesting but I would be wary of a trap. If a deal for amnesty more generous that thought possible starts to be negotiated, Trump could when near completion pull the rug and blame the Democrats for it. Millions of loons would believe him and become quite convinced that were in not for the Devil Angle Trump would have succeeded in going a wonderful and really great thing. Maybe something like the wall needed to be two feet thicker to last a thousand years, or not enough there to keep out the criminal rapists.

Of course, that's assuming he's thinking that far ahead, which isn't guaranteed these days. And I don't think he realizes that the wall's future is doubtful past 2020, if not 2018, since he's likely not going to have the uniform control it would likely take to keep the project running.
