And I thought MY child support payments were high!

Court Declines to Hear 'Diddy' Appeal

ALBANY, N.Y. - The state's highest court declined Tuesday to hear Sean "Diddy" Combs' appeal of a lower court decision ordering him to pay more than $19,000 a month in child support payments.

The hip-hop mogul was ordered last year to pay ex-girlfriend Misa Hylton-Brim for the care of their 12-year-old son Justin.

The order issued by the New York Supreme Court's Appellate Division in 2005 came after Combs appealed a Westchester Family Court ruling that he should pay $35,000 a month.

Hylton-Brim had sued for higher monthly payments and about $398,000 in back support.

The appellate court judge awarded a lower, undisclosed amount in back support and ordered Combs to pay Hylton-Brim's legal fees. The judge initially set monthly support payments at $21,782, but later reduced the amount.

"We're pleased the original order was reduced but we thought there were issues applicable for the Court of Appeals to entertain," said Combs' attorney, Stephen Gassman.

In 1996, Combs was initially ordered to pay $2,795 a month in child support, according to court documents.

Combs, 36, also pays child support to model Kim Porter for their son, Christian.

wasn't he paying like $30,000/month a couple of years ago? or maybe that's what the mother wanted. worse part is, i think both kids live with him too so I can't see why the mothers would want that much.

I'm surprised he wasn't ordered to provide Cambodian breast milk either..

he has a few kids, seems he couldnt keep his wee wee in girls back in the day

Wow, 19K a month. What does a kid needs that costs so much when a family of 3-4 can live of that amount for a year.

While that's an obscene amount of money for a kid, at the same point why should he be able to live a well-appointed life while his kid gets the bare minimum. I'm sure there's other issues at play too, perhaps the mother is a gold-digging ho?

Haha, yeah, like his kids get the bare minimum.
I expect he buys things for his kids himself, and the child support payments are likely for helping pay for basics like food.
Why do you assume the only money going to the kids is through child support?

I'm pretty sure I read an article about this when it first went to court last year or something. P-diddy didn't want the amount raised because not only was it already plenty, he also paid for the kids private school and a number of other things in addition to that amount.

No kid would be living like a pauper with even half that amount AND no extra gifts.

That like a drop in a bucket for him.

P Diddy took in $29 million last year when he sold Bad Boy Records to Warner Music group....not to mention his huge earnings from his fashion label Sean John.

True but its still excessive, even given how much he makes, and especially if he is already involved in their lives in any respect. It seems like child support (and to some degree alimony) are used as some type of punitive damages scenario instead of a reflection of what is needed to help raise the kid, and it shouldn't be.

True. P Diddy probably makes like 100k in Interest per month. He can afford 19k to pay for his children who don't have a father around.

Child support is about regular, structured payments to pay for food, clothing and a roof over his head. If P Diddy wants to buy his kid cloths and gifts great, that's what parents do. $225k/yr. in New York doesn't seem like that much for the child of somebody who lives such an extravagant life. That probably doesn't cover the liquor bill at one of his parties...

He wouldn't be paying child support if he had primary custody of the children.

If I recall correctly, investments in diamond chains and gold rings dont pay interest.
