They all look like mega nerds.

I love it.

Also, when am I getting this on my Droid X. Screw the fact that there are still major bugs in froyo that need fixing, just give me 2.3.

Looks pretty solid. Not earth-shattering, but welcomed improvements, especially the keyboard.

Who's your favorite SIP account provider?

I don't have a current "favorite". I use SipGate, gizmo and voip.ms to various degrees.

The built in SIP stack is big though, given Google integrated SIP in with GoogleTalk now, and has a nice DID head-end in GoogleVoice. All I'd need is a dumb data pipe and I'm in heaven.

No wonder all the carriers want to start charging per-byte data in a hurry.

It's a bit of a let-down, for me. I was expecting stuff like hardware acceleration for the UI.

That's most likely honeycomb. Thats when they release Tablet stuff and GPU acceleration would HAVE to go with it.

Yeah, that sounds like a more major release, aka android 3.0.

Looking forward to someone building me a stock 2.3 build for my droid :D. New keyboard + selection improvements FTMFW!

No, not yet -- the race is still which vendors/phones will get 2.3 next, if ever..

Heck, ChevyNo1 or the guys behind the Kangerade/Lithium Mod projects will have that pretty out pretty quick. Shoot, the keyboard apks will probably be up before the end of the week.

jit improvements and concurrent garbage collection should speed things up and help with lagging.

Hopefully D1 guys and gals get lovin too. Most are very slow at D1 updates since there has been eight bazillion other Android devices to develop for.
Most dev/modders are just finishing up builds with AOSP source.

Pete just tweeted that the Gingerbread keyboard will be in his new Bugless Beast, his AOSP ROM.
Spot on guessing there.

I installed the Gingerbread keyboard, and it's not fully functional and it's extremely tiny on a Droid X. I would recommend holding off until they can add some more performance to it.

You`ll probably get a few guys here and there to create a ROM for it but like you said, it`s old now and I don't see 2.3 getting put on it officially.
