This certainly was a rude awakening. I guess I should pay more attention to the weather...

How's everyone else dealing with this latest round? The roads are pretty terrible at this point but they are working on them. It's pretty interesting seeing 6-8 of the huge MNDot plows clearing all four lanes of 94 in both directions!

Also: snow tires = best decision ever.

You're in Minnesota. No way in hell are you finished with snow before March.

Lucked out with this latest system only hitting the southern NY border area. Most of the 18" on the ground will probably thaw before another big storm hits.

Haha, I know. We just had a few 50+ days last week and I had no idea this was coming. Oh well, welcome to MN I guess!

Live in northern WI here and we have been very lucky this winter at avoiding the huge snow storms. 😀

Got no snow from the latest one and only some cold weather after a few really nice ones in the 50's yet a hour and half away they got a good 6-8 inches.

The earlier storm, around the 2nd of this month, got my brother down near Milwaukee good while we got almost nothing.

A few pictures of his place after that one:

We have been fairly lucky the past few winters here so can't complain.

Got mostly a freezing rain/snow mix here in the Milwaukee area. I posted some pics like Newbian posted after that storm at the beginning of February. Last week we had those 40-50° temps here and it was enough to melt almost all of that snow except where it was piled up in a few spots. Between Sunday & Monday we only have maybe 1", but still sucked since it froze up right away.

Hah, my uncle was on the road from Sioux Falls to Sturgeon Bay over the weekend. He was complaining about ice throughout MN....

Virginia Beach, VA.

The whole week was great with temperatures peaking at 71 degrees. I doubt we'll get any more snow that doesn't melt as it touches the ground.

Northern California here, where it's been a clear day with a high of 59. It's supposed to rain later this week though; snow is something that I have to travel about 3-4 hours to get to.

we got a really nasty snow/ice mix. It only amounted to probably 4" on the ground, but it was...well nasty.

We had to take turns shoveling the driveway. Normally whoever has the energy to shovel goes out and does it. My roomie got half way done and gave up. I laughed at him then went out to show him how a man shovels. 30 minutes in I had only gotten a 10x20 swath done. Every shovel full felt like a bag of cement.

Now the sun is out melting all that crap. It made 1/2 the right lane on all the roads into soup. Tons of accidents from people not paying attention to it.

I don't really find snow/ice challenging to drive in. Drive the appropriate speed for the conditions, have good tires, and you won't have a problem. Driving behind idiots who think they have to go 25 because there's 0.5" of snow on the ground, on the other hand, can be quite a challenge (not to my driving skills, but to my nerves).

I dealt with it by moving to Texas.

The only thing that could get me to move back to one of those areas would be a job or schooling at a prestigious institution. MIT, Mass Gen, Johns Hopkins, etc.

this is why we should all have push bars on the front of our cars

LOL..I did that too moving to Texas but the snow caught up here as well (see Superbowl). Heck I don't even own a snow shovel and refusing to get one on principle. Thinking of moving to FL now.

I went south enough so there was no snow, but I've certainly been cursing under breath when it's cold enough for me to actually see it.

Yeah today it ended up the same here once it was all finished. Had maybe 4", but it's 2" of snow on top of 2" of frozen rain/snow. Pain in the ass to clear. I just cleared the snow off and left the frozen stuff as I'd be out there all day trying to chip it away, it's suppose to be above freezing here the next few days.

I'm glad that I'll be in Costa Rica next week. It has been cold and wet here as well.

It is 4C at the moment and the forecast is snow for tomorrow.

Yep...they're getting the storm that went through here a few days ago. Dumped quite a bit of snow in the high Sierra Nevada, but only a half inch or so of rain here.

Don't put your snow shovels and blowers away just yet...There's another COLD storm due to hit the west coast late Thursday. It's supposed to bring quite a bit of rain and VERY cold temps with it. Our snow level is supposed to be as low as 1000 feet....that's HIGHLY unusual for us...especially this late in the season.
I'm sure it will bring plenty of wintry weather and misery to those across the mountainous and plains states as well.

we've had a fair amount of ice this winter

Fuck you, Nature. Just totaled my parent's car with the last bout, sending a large tree limb crashing down onto their car.

We might get more tonight. Everything is still coated with all the previous ice from Sunday night/Monday morning. Not cool.
