but the chance of it successfully spreading to other continents is quite low, it's relatively easy to quarantine, and outbreaks in Africa even more so (lack of roads in the areas with large outbreaks).
TBH rabies is far scarier.

And if you want to be really rational about it the flu is probably the one that you want to be most scared of.

Yeah, it's actually so deadly that it burns itself out quickly. If it was a little less effective and killed people slower it would be far more dangerous because it could spread easier.

And after thinking about this some, if it can be transmitted by sweat onto a surface, this might be transmissible on a contaminated toilet seat. Just something to think about when we are told repeatedly in the media how toilet seats are really safe to use if they look clean.

I'd hit it except that the TP roll is backwards. Damn apathetic slobs.

It's not worth panicking over, yet. The flu kills 250,000 to 500,000 every year. Malaria kills between 600,000 and 1.2 million.

The scary part about ebola is the high mortality rate. Where as the flu kills 10%, this thing kills 90%. There is no vaccine and no known treatment so far. Which is why the WHO and CDC are working aggressively to contain it.
Really, 10%?

Casual Wiki search shows the worst fatality rate was 2% for the swine flu in the 1800s, same strain again in 2009 had .03%.

Is there a reason they arn't giving out vaccines for this as a precaution? They do it with flu all the time, they have commercials and everything to try to get people to go for their flu shot. I think an ebola vaccine would be a great idea to get before it does come on this side. Or is it that they did not develop one yet?

Come on Ebola! You gotta infect the whole world before you start killing people! How are you going to mop up those pesky Greenlanders?

Yeah, silly Ebola. You need to evolve waterborne and airborne infection characteristics, and have level 1 and level 2 antiparasitic resistance before you develop fatal symptoms!

Clearly it's not following Plague Inc protocol.

I'd like to see an Ebola prank on You Tube.

Imagine this: A prankster sits in a crowded restaurant, and starts talking on the phone loudly that he just came back from Africa. He starts complaining of Ebola like symptoms. Then he squeezes a few hidden blood packs and blood starts dripping from his nose, eyes, etc. He then throws up on the floor...

Hilarity ensues! :)
