Hi all, I need to upgrade my sister's comp with limited funds and I need some help in making a decision.

I have a chance to get my hands either on a MSI 6390 KM266 DDR board with integrated savage4 graphics, or a MSI K7T Turbo 2 KT-133A with an AGP 32MB TNT2 M64 graphics. The KM266 will be using PC2100 while the KT-133A will be using PC133 (both which I have spare memory modules of up to 256MB lying around). A Duron 1G will be used with the boards.

I was wondering which of the two configurations above would give a better overall performace (especially in terms of graphics)? Is the TNT2 M64 graphics better than the Savage4 graphics?

Thanx.

especially in terms of graphics

What do you mean? Visually? or in terms of 3D performance? Are you going to be playing games? The TNT2 M64 will be a little better, but both cards are very dated by today's standards.

Thanx for your info titanmiller and WarSong.

The old computer is a celeron 466 with integrated graphics (sis630 i think). It's getting a bit slow, especially when surfing the web with all the flash nowadays, i think it's the all in one board that's slowing down the system. Mainly my sister uses the pc for surfing the web, and i think occasionally some warcraft iii (no serious gaming). That's why I'm only upgrading it with older parts and lower specs than today's high end parts.

Both equally miserable in gaming, But the TNT cards will still have better support and drivers than ANY S3 incarnation. Replace the TNT with at least a GeF2mx when you get the chance.
