LONDON (Reuters) - Stonehenge, England's mysterious ancient monument that dates back to 2,300 BC, is to be returned to tranquility under a new plan unveiled on Wednesday to close or bury nearby roads and move car parks.
i was supposed to go see it when i was in England, but the lady at the travel bureau place gave us the wrong time, and we missed the bus. went to Greenwich instead and saw the observatory.
That's great news. I wish that they did stuff like that for all old monuments/relics/etc. in the world. Keep them accessible, but remove the modern distractions.
It's really a shame that all those asshats had to do and tear pieces off so that now you can't any closer than about 50 feet if i remember right. It would be so much cooler if you could walk right up to the stones, but i like this idea too.
