Anandtech's 5700 review - biased?

Is it just me or does the latest review of the 5700 Ultra card seem overly biased in favor of NVidia over the ATI 9600 cards? They say the 5700 is the new king of the mid-range cards...? There are a couple of tests the card can't even run - and half of them left the 5700 eating the 9600 card's dust...how do you figure the 5700 is king? When the 5700 is released, it'll probably be a good $50-75 more than the 9600 Pro. On every test the 9600 Pro was ahead on, the reviewer says the 5700 is "close", "takes it on the chin well", blah, blah, blah. Give me a break! It LOST!

Let's keep those reviews a bit more unbiased... It is pretty close to call, but there's no WAY I would make a statement about the 5700 being the new king!

in the $200 price segment, it versus the 9600xt are the same price, right?

I'm guessing they'd be fairly close...I haven't seen anything close enough to local (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) to find out...

Is there even a midrange segment anymore? It seems to be shrinking smaller and smaller as newer cards come out and cards like the 5900 are within 50 bucks

With all of the shrapnel flying around in video recently, Anand has been walking on eggshells to keep everyone happy. If he said anything too strong about one company of the other, it would hurt a lot of people's feeling here (no joke) and there would be much dismay.

Good job picking out those points though Huhtad. I'm glad you were able to stay objective throughout the entire review and discovered those cautious terms he used and see through the rhetoric.

Personally, I think Anand has a lot of credibility (most of the time), and he's doing all that he can to keep everyone happy. It's just that he has to kind of "concede" a few reviews to one side or the other from time to time to keep the ducks in line .

I dont want to read reviews that make me happy. Screw everyones happiness that isnt what reviews are for. I want to read reviews that present the truth. The fact is, the conclusions about the 5700 seem unwarranted. I wish the 5700 would have done better, because I think the 9600 sucks and I would like to try an Nvidia card. However it was a dissapointment, and I think calling it King is just silly.

These reviews should not be about making us happy and being careful of all the stupid fanboys feelings around here.

I agree with you Johnbear, but there's been so much vicious aruging going on about video lately it's a joke... If I even say Anand chose his words carefully as not to upset the many foamy-mouthed defenders of either card, there will be tons of backlash.. it's truly a shame.

I can't blame you for feeling that way, you see the fanboy crap all of the time, like the tard who put in the eye roll face in this thread. There are few things I hate more than a fanboy, and the fanboys seem to be everywhere these days. What a bunch of losers
