so i was at a conference in san jose at the end of last week and i decided that, rather than driving back to sf every day i would just get a hotel room. so i get a room at the san jose fairmont, get a shower and come down to go to a dinner meeting and there's a black dood chaining up the back of my car to a tow truck in the hotel lot. i starting yelling at the guy, asking him what he was doing (i had actually registered my car with the hotel) and another black dood who was apparently casing the rest of the lot comes up and says "hey dood#1 i told ya ta git dat truck ova dhere not dis cah" and points at a totally dissimilar suv in another part of the lot, so its obvious to me that these guys were up to no good. so i grab dood1's shoulder and twist his body around to get the name off his tag and dood2 start swearing at me and threatening me. i didnt want to be late for dinner so i got the license off the truck and wrote the company name down, left and called the cops. when i got back two hours later the cops were still there and apparently the doods had gone into the hotel and asked if they needed any cars towed and they had told them no, they had their own tow company. the cops asked for my id and started writing things down, i asked them what they were doing and they say "you want to press charges right?" i think to myself "oh crap", im envisioning having to go to court and waste personal time on this, so i said "well i gist didnt want dhem ta steal ma cah". i noticed later that they posted a cop in the lot to try to catch them. anyway dont think that "legit" tow truck companies dont steal cars. when i was a kid, a tow truck even went into a paid garage in downtown sf and tried to steal my dads car. a couple years ago a tow truck towed my car for the sf cops and i had to pay $650 to get my it back
