It's quite obvious that Intel is just trying to do something to thwart the inevitable popularity of the high end 2.2GHz A64 chips (the rumored A64 "FX" chips) in the gaming market. The P4 Extreme CPU is an interim solution until Prescott arrives in volume.

Anyone else find it funny that all of AMD's end user CPU names have names that resemble other products on the market like Athlon XP when Windows XP just came out and now AMD64 "FX" kind like the Gf FX.
