I started with Tom's forums but the AMD vs Intel wars got wearisome.

I just checked AT's hardware forum and the people there are as helpful as they were in the good ole days that people keep writing about.

I used to post on Tom's forums a few years ago - it appeared to be completely unmoderated. I got tired of the bullsh|t and left. Pwned some idiot good on the way out though - claimed "his friend" worked for McDonnell Douglas - several years after they had been bought by Boeing and no longer existed.

Like someone said, every forum has smart and dumb posters. It seems to me, at least since I joined, that many threads are getting locked and many people are showing others disrespect.

Personally, I'd rather be here, mostly because it's more familiar.

Tom's used to have an vomit inducingly ugly layout, so that kinda turned me off of going there. Now they use one of those generic pre-made forums.

On a different subjet, I originally thought overclocker websites would have "OMG, my overclock to 200000mghz is so 1337! I own your AMD, lama!" Then I actually went ot ocforums, and found them to be polite, mature posters who are incredibly mature.

Other than the occasional preview of upcoming cases, I don't bother with Tom's. I just stick with SPCR, they usually give me the type of info (or links to such info) that I'm interested in anyway.
