I vote for gt500 car we let me use fully upgraded so when i crash i can crash at higher speeds and more spectacularly :) (just kidding)

I like the Tokyo R246 so would love t see that in the next series.

As for length....i actually like the length, time wise of the races. 30 minutes is perfect in my mind. With the gt500 cars that should mean more laps which means more tire wear shouldnt it? So leaving it at about 30 minutes for a race should still work i'd htink.

Anyways thats my opinion, if the races got to much longer time wis, not sure i'd have as much fun or be able to stay that long uninterrupted.

Ditto Velillen's comments. I enjoy racing with clean racers and I'm sure the guy placing 7th is thrilled I'm racing so he isn't last. But too much longer than 30 and it starts getting iffy.

Yeah I think the tracks we used were pretty good and should translate well for GT500. Nurburgring might be a bit iffy though IMO for GT500.

That is fine with me, I liked the tracks we ran as well. I do agree that Nurburgring may not be a good choice, I just included it in this series because it's a fun track to drive and with us dropping your worst race and only counting 5 races as points, it was a sort of wild card.

I think we'll just stick to the tracks we used in this series with the exception of Nurbrugring and Deep Forest. The ring will be replaced with Fuji and Deep Forest with either Grand Valley or Special Stage 5 wich is a city course run at night. Let me know which you all would prefer.

There will be a week between series to let me get a few things ironed out, and to let us get used to running the GT500 cars. I am planning an informal race for next Sunday to let everyone get used to the cars, we will run it on the full Cape Ring Circuit. This is a fun track with about every kind of curve and situation there is.

BTW: for you guys who are practising for this weeks race, the race is on the 24hr Nurburgring track. :)

How many laps are we doing this week? Each lap will be well over 8min long since we are using the 24h layout.

We'll do 4 laps on the Nurburgring 24hr track. That should work out ok, laps should be in the 8:50-8:40 range.

Sorry I haven't got the first page track layout and drivers standings done this week, I've been pretty sick most of the week and just haven't gotten around to it.

See you all tonight :)

Hey is the race happening at 8CST today? Did daylight savings screw anything up?
I don't see a room open.

I'm not sure what's up. velilen usually has it open by 7pm, he never mentioned not being here tonight. I thought about opening one, but I don't think my connection will work once a few guys get in it.

It's going to take a while just to qualify, we may have to start late to give everyone a chance.

K should we open another one or just wait for velilen to do it?

EDIT: Just joined your room. If your connection starts to lag I can host.

boshuter, I sent you a PM earlier about the pending protest against thilan's double rule violations at Suzuka. I was hoping to get some kind of resolution before we start the next race.

Sorry guys i totally just spaced about the race. That and not all the clocks were changed so the garage one was still an hour behind. Sorry again!

Hope the race went well! Ill definitely be around for the gt500 races and dont mind hosting again long as everyone was happy with my hosting.

Good race everyone. Not my favourite track but it IS different. Hope everyone else had fun in the series. Was my first time racing GT5 online and I had a blast. Will definitely try GT500.

No complaints with your hosting. But I think we'll have to somehow do a private room so the host doesn't have to leave the track to kick people out and lose his position on the starting grid.

I love the track, but had to start at the back and got behind a really slow car, then was punted into the grass on lap 2 or 3, I was pretty much done after that.

Nice run, you and Ride were the only ones that had a good race out of this one,,,,,, congrats.

Nurburgring 24h summary

  • My least favorite track
  • Disparity in performance of the RX7 and the Celica is amplified here
  • No practice/tuning
  • Lacked motivation after what happened at Suzuka
  • Horrible performance with at least 6 spins on my own plus a couple of crashes due to contact caused by a combination of narrow track and lag.
That's a powerful index of reasons to classify this as my least enjoyable GT300 race ever.

Nevertheless thanks everyone for good and mostly clean racing throughout the season.

Yeah I think we should change the way we host so nobody hosting runs into that problem.

Thanks. :)

I think I figured out the host having to start at the back problem. We will just have the host, and a couple of alternate hosts, have everyone in the league on their friends list, then we can run the races in a private lounge. That will prevent outsiders from even getting in. Ideally, the host and alternates should probably make an alternate account just for the league, you can just gift your race car to the other account. That way there won't be anyone on the friends list except the league drivers. Let me know what you think of this idea.

Sometime early this week I'll start a new thread for the GT500 series. There are going to be a few rule changes, hopefully for the better. One thing I do want to stop is having to read 2 pages of whining and bitching after each race . If anyone has a problem, send them, or me, a PM.

We will race next weekend on the full Cape Ring track, it is not a series race, just something fun to do and get used to running against each other in the new cars. Just a heads up, I would like for everyone to have thier GT500 car picked out before next weekend and we will stick with that car for the duration of the season. THE NISSAN XANIVI NISMO Z IS NOT ELIGIBLE! It is well known that that car is much faster than any of the other Super GT500 cars. Any other car is fine, unless someone has a good reason that one shouldn't be used.

Some participants in this series don't seem to understand the basic rules of clean racing. This should be mandatory reading:

GT Planet online rule racing & guidelines:
http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=184984

Everything in the article above is important but I would like to especially stress the following:

08 Corner Rights
A:
When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions.

06 Running into the car ahead of you
A: The behind driver must take all necessary care and responsibility not to run into an ahead driver.

B: In case you brake too late for a corner or partially lose control of your car, but can prevent an accident by steering into the dirt, grass or a wall, you are expected to do so.

And then there is article 07 that addresses Contact concessions

Well i never cared about starting position myself. Since i knew i'd be at the back anyways :) I do think i have probably half the field on my friends list so making a requirement wouldnt be all that hard. I doubt most people would care having a host or two on their friends list.

As for doing it how we have been, i did notice if you (the host) are on the track and just exit from the track to that first menu, you can kick people from there if i remember right. You dont have to go all the way out to the main page (where you can change settings). I was doing this for one race and remember my starting position wasnt the back but rather was like 6th or 7th. Assuming it was working right that should have meant it kept my lap time and that was just where i was placed shouldnt it? Think it was r246 i did that on.

Just something to consider since im not to much into worrying about qualifying since im towards the back anyways :)

As you did in this series a list of cars is always nice. Though the gt500 cars are a bit easier to find. And i also assume no upgrades at all?

You do realize this isnt a GT Planet race league, right? Ive run in one or two from GT Planet and in general everything seemed to be about the same as what I saw here

Looking forward to the GT500!

Actually, it's not quite the same as he's rather fast in this group but not so much in the GT Planet Super GT league. lol It's funny how gracious and sporting he is when he wins but all hell (or excuses) breaks loose when he's not. Reminds me of Mansell to be honest, fast but his mouth is even faster. :awe:
