If the Samsung 960 Pro didn't exist and anybody other than Samsung released the 960 EVO, it would be a credible flagship product for today's SSD market. It is clearly faster than the Intel 750 everywhere that matters.

The Plextor M8Pe is currently in the SSD testbed where we don't expect it to surpass the OCZ RD400 or Samsung 960 EVO, but matching their performance would likely make the M8Pe the clear favorite over the 960 EVO. The one thing holding back the 960 EVO from becoming the default product recommendation among PCIe SSDs is the fact that some MLC-based drives will be competing with the 960 EVO on price and may also come close in performance.

I guess I will wait until I see the Plextor results, but my next drive will either be the Plextor or the Samsung. The 500 GB 960 EVO is .50 /GB, whereas the Plextor is .37 /GB in that size. It will just depend on how competitive the performance of the Plextor is. However, without a doubt, the 960 EVO is really impressive for a "mainstream" drive.

No 1TB Intel 600p M.2 NVMe SSD in comparison graphs? Why not?

I guess they already wrote it off as a competitive NVMe drive? Not really sure though. In the review of the 600p, in some tests it would perform on par with a 850 EVO, so maybe including that in the charts was good enough.

//Edit It looked through many of the other reviews published about the 960 EVO, and none of them included the 600p for comparisons. //end edit

I'm honestly impressed Anandtech posted a review ahead of, or at the same time, as the other review sites. I like their style and detail, but sometime they are slow, slow, slow.

I'm still waiting for part 2 of their DDR4 performance scaling article that was published in February 2015

Impressive drive, will likely get one if I need another NVMe drive in another computer.

The review is a partial answer to the comparisons between Samsung drives that I would like to see. There is no comparison of equal sizes.Comparing the largest 960 TB drives to lesser sizes is not realistic since size alone has a great advantage in some tests. I appreciate smaller 960 sizes may not be available for tests but until they are I do not have an answer to whether the 950 PRO 512 will remain the consumer sweet spot drive like it is now. What the comparison does make abundantly clear is what a darling in price/performance the 950 Pro 512 is. Will there be a 960 PRO at 512 ? A 960 EVO at 512 ? Inquiring minds want to know.

There is a table on the last page that shows there are 960 PRO and 960 EVO drives in those sizes, and even gives you the $ per GB.

Here is a review that contains a 250 GB and 1 TB 960 EVO. Of course the 250 GB version will perform slightly slower:
