Actually no, there is the Digit Life review thread which is discussing all the NW reviews, but this is the first time Anand's has been posted.

who cares if its a repost? Its the first time I've seen this thread and that article. You think people live on these forums 24 hours a day and have the chance to see every first post that comes along? I don't think so.

For all you idiots who think Tom's hardware does a good review I laugh and present you anandtech's review... Now this is a review!!! Anand's test are more real world and represent a good across the board referencing of programs likely to be used. Real business appz...multiple 3d and gaming tests not just the quake3 engine.

For all autocadd and 3dsmax users like myself...wow...the athlon xp really kicks butt...

This confirms within close proximity a couple reviews now that the northwood will offer near 10 percent performance boost over same mhz willamette chips in some programs but doesn't do much to pull away from the xp that still holds strong despite using a .18 micron process...

If I was an avid overclocker it would be hard to overlook a p4 especially since it appears you can obtain 2.5 to 2.6ghz easy...Those scores could really put some distance on the athlon xp 2000+ non oc'ed...The 533mhz fsb will really help the scores as well...

But as of now for non ocers nearly 1.8x the cost does not justify this chip with mere percentage point victores and losses against amd's much cheaper xp chip....

good point, duvie. it's all about what you want to do with the cpu.

personally, i don't use cad or 3dsmax. and i really don't care which cpu can open word or excel faster.

i'm interested in the best game performance as well as audio and video encoding. so obviously the p4 would be the choice for me.
