I really need to know more about this card!! Any info & links to reviews for this specific card would be appreciated.

EDIT: Found more info but this isn't the card I'd get. The 3870 Extreme version is something to look at though. Looking for reviews.

Any card with less than 512MB is of no use for anyone gaming at 1600x or higher. So the only released cards of the new generation worth discussing are the 3870 and 8800GT, not the 3850 or the 256MB of the 8800GT.

not everyone uses a 1600x or higher resolution

True, many people are still running 1280x1024 LCDs, for this market the 8800GT 256MB and 3850 seems suitable, though it still may struggle in certain games IMO. Just look at the 8800GTS 320 in Crysis @ 1280x1024, it already trails the 640MB version by a fair margin...

what is that? an overclocked 3870 with 1GB of ram? I don't think it will work... They could make an extreme 3850 because it is a 3870 chip with half the ram on board... so they just put all the ram and it worked... but if they try putting double the ram it is supposed to take...

Although who knows, maybe it WILL work... maybe AMD was planning to release a card like that anyways

what is that coupon thing everyone is mentioning? and where do i find it?

promise to stop posting unresearched crap with no bearing on reality and I might tell you 😉

@louissssss $30 isn't enough of a diff for 3870 in most cases. for me it would be enough b/c I care about the lower noise and better heat dissipation of the dual slot cooler and have factored that into the price. I would replace the stock hsf on an 8800gt. If the noise/heat don't bother you and you have no xfire plans then the 8800 would have to be $50-60 higher imho to warrant getting the 3870 instead.
