Hi eveyone, I am new to this forum obviously but I just wanted to let you know that MSI is now aware of the Winchester Core (and now Venice Core) AMD chip overclocking issues. We, (ChakkaSol and aicjofs on the MSI forums - google it or follow this thread) are on the MSI forums with a lead thread under the nVidia board section as follows:

http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?topic=80211.0

We are in the midst of contact with not only one of the senior editors of Anandtech, but also the folks over at Hardocp. They both have helped us greatly to get in contact with some of the senior folks over at MSI. Much of the problem may have stemmed from the fact that MSI and MSI admins were not truly aware of the winchester core problem (amd issue cbbid).

I think we are getting close with MSI & MSI forum admins to completely understand the issue and allowing us all to "get on the same page". We believe its a bios issue but we are not certified testers like Anandtech and Hardocp.

Just to make sure, this is not about "bashing" MSI and even though aicjofs and I get really frustrated to the edge sometimes, we simply want to resolve this issue and be apart of the solution, and not the problem. This is very delicate and we don't want to flame the thread.

Here is where we need your help too. For those of you who have experienced the 219 or 229 fsb bug, please email both Anandtech and Hardocp that you too have experienced the same problem. Again, we all really want to confirm to both Anandtech and Hardocp the excellent reviews of the SLI mobo and overclock like they did in the reviews. Thank you for your support.

Hi Macro2, actually I am just a user that is fairly new to both the amd world and msi. If you follow this thread, you will see more about me (my true first name even appears in the thread). I have seen alot of posts in various threads about the 219fsb bug on Anandtech forums and we are trying, in a vary constructive manner, to solve this problem. And Anandtech is helping us too.

In no way are we trying to be distruptive, simply we need help to let MSI know that their are some specific overclocking issues with winchester and now venice core AMD chips on n4 mobos. If you have the same problem, please by all means post on the thread. So here is the thread below and thanks for your support:

Actually no. It was pointed out to me by aicjofs (you can see his posts on the thread) but some manufacturers have already fixed their bioses to compensate for the new AMD 90nm design with Winchester and Venice core CPUs (especially ones labled cbbid). I have also seen some threads that maybe the san diego is affected too (I really have been focused on the winnis and vinnis).

It took me some time to really figure out what was going on and for someone new to both worlds it's confusing. AND it seems to only affect nForce4 mobos.

Anyway, with 130nm chips, guess what - no problems. The reviewers and others can hit an amazing 350 to 375 fsb. Let me know what you think about all of this and if you have the same problem. Thanks.

Hi RichUK, hey as a side note, I have really been eyeing those ocz 3200 plat r2 pairs...so its seem like you are no problem at 250Mhz (500 ddr) @ 1:1 timings? I hope MSI fixes this bug because my mobo with that memory would really smoke!
