Anandtech mentioned in the NY Times

I read the online version of The NY Times every day. There's an article on the new Pentium 4 where Anandtech is mentioned. The article explains that it is slower than the Pentium III even though the clockspeed is faster.

I can't link because you need to register (free) to read the article, but here is the PP where it is mentioned:

In various studies performed by PC World magazine, IT Week magazine and Web sites for techies like www.anandtech .com and www.sharkeyextreme.com, the Pentium 4 makes it around the test track of everyday computing tasks at a speed that's about 10 percent slower than that of the 1- gigahertz Pentium III chips. And if you crave ultimate speed, note that the first- place winner in almost every test isn't a Pentium at all; it's the 1.2-gigahertz Athlon, a chip made by AMD, Intel's rival.

ps - sharkyextreme is mentioned as well.

Sweet... I like how they give the speed crown to AMD! Now if they can just crack into the corporate market, and figure out a way to dampen down their heating issues... they've got it made!

Oooo... "Ace Reporter" rank, is that an exclusive rank or does everybody have a chance of getting that?

LXi, I would be willing to sell you my title for 50.00, Brandon paid 75.00 for his. 😉

I think its cuz he got >13000 posts...(NFS4)

as for the article:

GO AMD!

I just hope they wont disappoint us with the palomino (ie, nothing more than a cooler running core, like SE suggested)

BTW!

i just figured out, that with my current rate of posting it will take me 35 years and 7 months to become and "Ace reporter"

hah

I'm guessing some of you guys are new? 😉

NFS4 A.K.A Brandon Hill is AnandTech's Web News guy. 🙂

That's a nice article. I might have to start showing that to my more ignorant customers who think they are "experts" and try telling me that AMD sucks and Intel always has a better product.

On a side note, Anadtech was mentioned in a computer newspaper here in Sweden recently.
AFAIK AT is the only "hobbyist" site along with Tom's that's ever been mentioned in this particular paper, they tend to stick to more "serious" sources, so I guess that could be seen as a sign of acceptance by the more "stiff" people in the industry 🙂

Shouldn't that title be "Neffer"? 😀

Good to see Anand and AMD receiving some favorable press.
