There's probably not much we can do about that at the moment but the comeback would be really tremendous if we could just harness the incredible awesome POWER of the members here at AnandTech forums!!!

We have been progressing up the world ranks, making AnandTech a truly World Class TeAm in Seti.
Now we are in a fight with a competing Forum Team, BBR . They are taking great joy in their soon to be "victory" over TeAm AnandTech.
So much so that they have even named their latest major threat to our standing:
"BBR Battlecruiser (TeAm'S nightmare)"

We desperately need all AnandTech members to join in the fight. They may pass us, but lets make their Victory a temporary one.

Bah, it's more then just counters and SETI, it's about helping out a TeAm, specifically a bunch of guys from the forum that do this to represent AT, but I guess you guys can't see that....

My main rig has been retired from crunching, but I'll set it up for it's 7WUs/day FWIW 🙂

So, they're still trying to pass us in the total WU's count? Didn't we have a competition and whomp on them a few months back? I joined the cause then, and granted, I only crunched 44 units, but I really don't want to leave my computer on all day. It gets damn hot here and my computer heats up my room like a mofo. If this was a month more into the winter, I'd gladly join back up. If they do pass us up though, I'll be first in line to reinstall SETI.

EDIT: I see they have about 200 more members then we do, but an hour more on the cpu time per WU.
 
I enjoy the comraderie that the TeAm has. It is not a huge deal if we fall behind, but I am not goin to say I will be happy. Oh hell no. I will not go silently into that good night. I will be dragged kicking and screaming.

Come on guys! put that computer to good use! If you think SETI sucks, then cool. Pick one of the other DC projects like Cancer Crunching, Drug optimization, AIDs research, or another! There is something you like, I know it!

Yep, they are still trying to pass us! How about you reinstall to help prevent BBR pass us? Prevention is better than cure!


They have now regained one of their big guns, Banzai, now BBR Battlecruiser (TeAm'S nightmare). He alone is doing 6000 Work Units per day, which is almost as much as our entire TeAm is doing!

We know that we are unlikely to find any big guns with a huge work fleet, but we have something that BBR does not have, a HUGE user base, all here because they are interested in hardware (or that's what initially drew them here 😉) We can hit them with sheer number of users. Even if only half the people here crunch just one Work Unit per day, we could crush BBR, and also be one of the highest producing Teams in the world.

I see so many posts here about "My car does the 1/4 mile faster than yours"...why not some "My computer does a Seti Work Unit faster than yours" threads?

You're tweaking your computer for the fastest speed? Why not test it with a program that makes full use of that super fast RAM, and that highly overclocked FSB?

We are a TeAm and a forum full of "little people", who are by no means insignificant in this, who have the potential to crush this "giant"

You don't need to leave your PC running if you really don't want to ,you could just have SETI running whenever your surfing the net or anything else none cpu intensive,you'd still be contributing🙂
Btw yes we did beat BBR earlier this year ,about February I think ,they have come back with avengence!:Q
 
For those of you who belive you have to leave your computer on 24/7 for these projects thats untrue, you can turn your computer on, have these programs run in the background with no impact on your PC's preformance (even in gaming) use your machine like you always do, without even noticing the program, and turn it off when your done.

there is only one project that has a short time window and thats Folding@home, so if you don't want to leave your computer on all the time, don't, just a word for the wise don't partake in folding@home if your that type of user as most of your work units wouldn't count as they would be redistributed.

Currently working on ECCp. I kinda perfer something that will finish in my life time. 🙂 So I have a perposal... Why not all you seti users come and lets finish ECCp in a week! Then All the ECCp users go over to seti! I know it will never happen but oh well.
Also I have never had any luck with installing seti. I will have another Athlon 2000+ XP up and running in a week and a 1ghz athlon up too. I was planning on using them for eccp but if you think it will make any difference I can run SETI on them...
