i think this is the best forum i registered for. But i have a complaint, the limited numbers of accepted email addresses is anoying and why are all aol ips blocks?
adding how many views a post has had could also be useful
Other than that, this forum is great

The emails that are blocked have been blocked because of problems the forums have had with the users of those emails (or isps).

As for the views, Zuni has already said no for now, but you can suggest they include it in the next build if you would like to give your input. :)

The views for each thread thing is built-in in Fusetalk 2.0, but will never be implemented in the Anandtech forums. It is simply to resource-intensive to run a view per thread query. It will bring the database to its knees

Ive brought this up many, many times...and I dont understand it and no one has given me a straight answer. fatwallet.com runs its 2.1 FT on linux. They have about 13K users, 2 servers. AT has 60K members and (4?) servers. Now Im not the technical guy to be blabbing on about this....but I dont think it would be as intensive as everyone makes it seem. If 13K users can do it....I guess I dont see why everyone proclaims it impossible at 60K. Would you really need another 20 thousand in hardware? Im doubting it, but maybe im in the wrong! :)

Actually they tried the view once but it was insanity. YOu have no idea how high those numbers were. The forums slowed to a crawl that day and it was quickly removed. I wouldn't hold my breath for it comming back :)

Luckster,
Trust me, FatWallet.com doesnt even drive 1/20th of Anandtech's hits. On average, there are 30 logged-on users on Fatwallet, while there are 500 on at Anandtech.

Fatwallet is no where near the traffic here. We do know what we are doing, when we say that it's performance intensve it is performance intensive. Thanks.

Yep, Zuni knows :)

Besides, I'm always posting on this forum. I don't post hardly ever at fatwallet.

What's that mean? 5% more usage on these forums just from me :D

This forum is pretty good. That's because it is controlled with an iron fist. Now that I made Senior status I think I'm supposed to wait for flowers or something, isn't that right?

No.

If you're lucky (I mean like winning the lottery lucky) an admin or one of the other moderators will ask if you would like to become a moderator.

Then they brutally test you.

But, like I said, better not get your hopes up.

No.

There were certain people that helped out before fusetalk (when the forums were ubb)

The most established members and most worthwhile are mods...

I know a few of them, but I wont tell you nothing.

The topic that was locked is usually locked for various reasons...

1. It's illegal (meaning someone posted something they shouldn't have, morals can answer what is illegal)
2. The topic has been covered over and over and over. Help solves this problem.
3. The person who started this topic made it very inappropriate. So the mod locked it.
4. It's controversial. It started out ok, but it took a bad turn due to a few smartass users.
5. The post Linked to material that was illegal, or the moderator didn't like the post...

Posts get deleted if they're really inappropriate or illegal.
