** gonna keep it offline while i work out the bugs.. ** thanks for your input guys.

parses hot deals and fs/t forum for threads. let me know what you guys think.. or if you find any bugs..

i haven't tried it with a subscriber but the option is there.. let me know how it works for you.. (the rest of you.. its going to be slow loading.. because anandtech forums are slow.. its not my fault :))

EDIT: Welp. lots of people stuck on loading.. to you i have to say either i suck or anand is really slow.. works ok for me.. sometimes it takes awhile just cause the page wont load (you know how ya have to refresh some pages sometimes cause it just wont finish loading?) ..

anyhow i think i will impliment more detailed connection status as to display what its doing exactly.. thanks for any input :) keep it coming..

Locks up on me immediately after accessing the internet. Doesn't seem to matter what server I try.

When I click start, it just sits there with "Loading...Please Wait" and then never does anything else.

I tested it on subscriber server and it worked well. However, I've found it lacking a refresh button.

option dialog is under the system context menu (right click the program on the taskbar)

it refreshes every 60 seconds..

Coolness. It takes a while if you're a non-subscriber but it works just fine. :)

Same here. I tried changing the server but that didn't make a difference.

Dl'ed, ran it, changed the server to subscriber, then 'nada'. It's network connection has zero activity and the program doesn't respond.

Running Win2kPro, PIII-700, 256MB

Update-- It sucked up all available CPU power while it checked for updates. Took around 2-3 minutes before the Hot Deals side loaded.

Will try lowering it's priority. System grinds to a halt during updates currently. Lowered it's priority in the Task Manager. It will now concede some CPU power if you want to do something else.

Would love to have a way to resize the window/text size. Running 1600x1200 and my eyes don't exactly love the font. ;)

Other observations:

- What if you don't care for one forum or the other currently (i.e. you're not looking to buy/sell or don't have the money to look for hot deals. (checkbox select/unselect for 'em?)

- Check for updates after x minutes?
- Stagger the checking?
- Default to a low priority?

Wouldn't be a bad subscriber benefit :) So what's the process here. Is it going and grabbing every post every 5 minutes or something? Seems extremely counter-productive.

I see "Loading... Please Wait" after clicking start. I'm using NT 4.0 Workstation, and I have yet to find a recent program that I want to use to run on it. ;) Maybe that's the point of a business OS.

Hint for people on win2k and xp, go to Task manager and set priority to Below Normal. Hammers out most issues with overall slowness.

I sat through 11 minutes of "Loading" and it finally came up!

I'm on a T3 so I guess it's the forums that are so slow.
