Welcome to the Distributed Computing Forum. There have been some updates to the Moderation and Guidelines for AnandTech forums which can be found in Personal Forum Issues in this thread. Please read these important guideline changes.

One of the major changes is in how moderation will be done going forward. Moderators have a title listing the forums they moderate. They are able to moderate in other forums, but are encouraged to do so only in extreme and obvious cases of a violation or when a thread needs to be moved. Moderators are expected to remain in good standing with the community and uphold all of our member and posting guidelines.

Senior Moderators, who will also be noted by title, have jurisdiction over all forums. In addition to normal moderation, Senior Moderators are responsible for making decisions concerning permanent bans, advising moderators on actions, reviewing member complaints about moderator activity, and generally making sure moderation at AnandTech is run fairly and efficiently.

In addition to the Senior Moderators, The moderators for the Distributed Computing forum are Smoke & RaySun2Be. These moderators were nominated and voted upon by the Senior Moderators and Administrators and have accepted the position. We welcome them to the team, and hope you will too. Congrats are in order :)

Please note: These, and all other moderators should not be contacted directly for moderation issues. Those should go to the Moderator account though Private Messages, or posted in Personal Forum Issues.

I didn't notice anything in the guidelines about hazing new moderators. I'm assuming that's allowed? :D

Congrats to Smoke & raysun2be!

NOTE: I'm ignoring this thread, FWIW.

Before you start hazing, just remember this. Smoke still has his trout, and Ray still has his cane. So haze at your own risk...

I'd be hard pressed to find two better mods than the two selected. I'd also be hard pressed to find a forum that needed mods as little as this one.

Question: If the mods don't ever have to do anything, do they still get the title? :p

Further, if a forum doesn't need moderating, do we all win something, like a complimentary TeAm T-Shirt or something :Q

Hey. raysun2be is almost as good an ignorer as I was. Now Smoke? He actually IGNORED, if you get my drift.

I know thats how things are "supposed" to work, but I have a feeling that it wont be like that here, only becuase there really are no moderation issues. Simply sticky threads and updates to stickies.

Anyways, congrats!

I don't care about the title just as long as the checks keep coming in.

Talk about easy money! :p :D

Rule #1: Nobody is supposed to wake me up when I'm taking my naps. So keep the noise down and turn off the lights when you're done.

Congrats Smoke and RaySun2Be!
I suppose most of the posters above are right ... this will not (I hope) need much moderation.

Also:

I herewith grant the Distributing Computing Moderators Smoke and RaySun2Be the right to correct my spelling at any time and when ever they think it may be needed. OTOH I reserve my right to sometimes intentionally spell words the way I think they should be spelled. ;)

I think, BTW, that Smoke's rule is valid for all: Nobody is supposed to wake me up either!

The scary thing is that RaySun2Be and Smoke bracket me in the TeAm Faces. Is this just a coincidence?

A good thing about knowing the Moderators is we can now maintain some stats on them. Maybe a scale of 1 to 10, from Bad to Good.

We do need to form a review committee to rate the quips they use when they do moderate someone.:)

EDIT: I wonder if they have been properly trained to use the Mod Panel?

Nice panel. It is a similar which I have over at TAS ... really easy to use and play with ... ;)

Thanks guys, I think. :)

I expect this to be a gravy job, no hassles, and as long as the checks keep coming in, I'm happy. ;)

How did I miss this thread. :( I was expecting it to be the previous thread that I already read in several other sections--I didn't realize mods were being announced in them. Congrats to Smoke and RaySun2Be. I'll begin stats immediately. So for categories so far we have: mod editing their own post; mod editing someone else's post. :D
