Welcome to the The Garage. There have been some updates to the Moderation and Guidelines for AnandTech forums which can be found in Personal Forum Issues in this thread. Please read these important guideline changes.

One of the major changes is in how moderation will be done going forward. Moderators have a title listing the forums they moderate. They are able to moderate in other forums, but are encouraged to do so only in extreme and obvious cases of a violation or when a thread needs to be moved. Moderators are expected to remain in good standing with the community and uphold all of our member and posting guidelines.

Senior Moderators, who will also be noted by title, have jurisdiction over all forums. In addition to normal moderation, Senior Moderators are responsible for making decisions concerning permanent bans, advising moderators on actions, reviewing member complaints about moderator activity, and generally making sure moderation at AnandTech is run fairly and efficiently.

In addition to the Senior Moderators, The moderator for the The Garage is gillbot. Gillbot was nominated and voted upon by the Senior Moderators and Administrators and has accepted the position. We welcome gillbot to the team, and hope you will too. Congrats are in order :)

Please note: These, and all other moderators should not be contacted directly for moderation issues. Those should go to the Moderator account though Private Messages, or posted in Personal Forum Issues.

By the hour? Zero dollars. All mods are volunteer and get paid exactly zero.

Well, that is nice, but I must say this forum is turning out very little like I saw it. Not that it is a big deal, there are lots of forums where opinions presented as fact are immediately called out and fail to propagate. A shame this one could not be the same, but oh well.

My "fun" car is in my sig but as for driving, it rarely moves. :( Too much worky worky and not enough free time.

My main driver is a *GASP* 2007 Chrysler Town & Country mini van. I can't complain though, it was free and comes with a maintenance and gas card! :D Company vehicle FTW!

Those are Hankook tires you have on the rear? I had them and they're crap, don't hook up at all...

Yokohama ES100's and they are horrible. I can barely hook up with M/T ET Drag Radials so most "Street" tires don't stand a chance.

Gilbot I have a suggestion for the garage fourm.

I think we should put some sort of legal "DIY on your own will" statement above in a locked thread for the garage. I see a lot of the advice given here is good but some is quite questionable if followed. Especially for some who come in here as car newbees who need assistance.

6 speed or auto?

When the 6 speed came out, I drove one asap, it was like sex...

I think that's understood.

Auto, can't beat the auto in a 1/4 drag. I was originally looking for a 6 speed but they couldn't find one in the US that a dealer would let go. They offered a few places a vette in dealer trade to get one but the offers were declined.

I was offered the one you see in the sig for a song so I jumped on it. I got it for what the dealer paid for it. I believe it was a special order car someone decided not to get so they were having troubles selling it. Better for me though! I bought it brand new in '02 and I think it was like $21k total out the door with the special GMAC financing thrown in.
