As some of you may know, Croteam announced that Sam 2 will not have DM, only co-op as its multiplayer feature. I am part of the original DM community from Sam, and although we know co-op is what sells the game, DM is what keeps people playing.

We have started an open letter to Croteam to show them that we aren't alone. All we ask for is your voice to show them that gamers want this added in a future patch. There are no registrations required to add your voice, we just want to show them that the lack of any DM or competitive mode is a big mistake. Thanks to anyone that feels the same way.

UPDATE:

VICTORY!

Just 24 hours after announcing that Sam 2 would not have DM support, Croteam has come out and confirmed that DM will be added via patch after the release. They also have confirmed a $29.99 PC price tag and an October release. Thanks to Seriously for the news.

I'd also like to thank everyone who viewed and signed this letter. It was only a few hours old but in its short lifespan, it showed that people DO care about having DM and competitive modes with the number of views, emails, and signatures we have received.

Hopefully DM was the plan all along and that Croteam's terrible publisher/PR firm, 2k Games, is the one to blame in this mess by their lack of communication.

We'll see you on the battlefield and you can be sure there will be a number of GameMecca DM servers running.

There are eleventy billion games with DM and only a handfull with co-op.

Adding yet another game with DM doesn't really matter to me, so I'd rather have them spend the resources on after-release fixes to co-op and single instead.

But I won't anti-sign the petition, so my negative vote won't hurt you :)

I don't disagree that co-op is sorely needed in many more games, but after you beat the game in co-op, will there be another reason to play it? It doesn't have to be DM, we're just trying to get Croteam to recognize that the lack of a competitive feature is replay value suicide.

I haven't kept up with the news on it, have they promised modding support?

Some fan content could help extend its life. And if the stock engine is co-op friendly a lot of that content would be co-op too.

DM requires little thought to throw in after the fact, I'd rather they spend as much time as possible implementing REAL co-op.

for $20 a game, i've no problem with coop and no DM. i actually only played the coop with the two first sams. DM didn't seem like anything special, compared to UT, BF or CS. I'd rather see alot of user created coop stuff than DM anyday.....but those are just my thoughts.

I don't think this one is going to be $20, but higher.

Damn near every single-player FPS has a DM mode and there are now games made exclusively for DM (UT2k3, BF2, etc), so why in the world should we care so much about tacking another DM mod onto a single new game? Will it offer anything new or exciting? Doubtful.

I don't feel that lack of DM is "a big mistake." If anything, hopefully it will mean more effort can be put into making a better coop experience, something sorely lacking in modern games (unlike DM.)

Are you also the kind of person who feels that every single cell phone made should have a crappy camera built in? :|

This is one of the very few pc games i've been following to possibly buy -- so no DM would be a deal-breaker for me.

Glad to hear it will be in.
