AnandTech does the Celeron 800 with a 100mhz FSB.

Doesn't make sense to spend $170 on an 800mhz celeron when you can get a 566@850 for around $70!

The only thing Intel has going for it at this point are companies NOT knowing that AMD is out there. The company I work for has 60,000 Intel equipped PCs and the BIG HEADS who order these dont even know AMD exists. I keep trying to tell them but they dont listen. The bastards! :) But I think when they wise-up and realize they can save a bundle things will change.

the duron 600 almost, in some cases does beat the celeron 800, that makes me really happy i have a Duron at 945Mhz :D BTW how does a duron stack up against a PIII???? any reviews on it?

i dunno, not everyone is happy with their duron, i'm not, my 3dmark2000 scores are lower now than they were before with a slower celeron!

So they dug up those old Cel2 533 that they never put on market? ;p
Seriously, makes sense when you don't need to buy a new motherboard.

LOL buying a Celeron period does not make sense, a Duron 600 Mhz NON overclocked will still be faster than a Celeron 566 @ 850 because a Duron os faster than a stock Celeron 800. Unless you already have a celeron mobo their is no reason for an end user to buy one, their exspensive and they get trampled in performance by AMD.

Does AMD already have an equal to Intel's BX boards in terms of stability and performance? I was a K6-3 user for the longest time, but I didn't know what stability was until I switched over to a Celeron/BX board combo. Absolutely bulletproof stable, overclocks like mad, and I didn't have to re-install new 4-in-1 VIA drivers ever other week like I had to with my previous K6-3/Epox MVP3G-M setup.

Bottom line, is it still more of a pain to setup an AMD system vs. an Intel system?

AMD/VIA setups aren't a pain, they're just a few extra steps to setup.

I've had both VIA133A and i815E chipsets. I found the VIA a tad more quirky, but both were excellent and both are/were rock solid.

The kt133 is likewise solid(stability-wise), but it requires a few extra steps to ensure peak performance and maximum stability.

I had a lot more problems setting up my AMD KT133 system than my P266 and Celeron 500 but once I got it setup properly it runs very well.

i think AMD or VIA should make their setups more user friendly. and from there they will sell more

Setting up my system coulsn't have been easier. I don't see why people have a hard time.

Why does everyone whine about 3dmark scores??? i just dont get it, I for one did not get much of a boost in 3dmark going from a celeron 550 to a duron 945. But i did get a BIG boost in UT and quake III. After that i lost all faith in 3dmark, i mean who cares??? what do you guys just sit and watch 3dmark all day or something? real world performance is what matters, 3dmark is useless.

They just get further and further behind at the low end... Still relying on the Celeron name from the old days, when you could O/C from 300->450, and the 366->550... Not to mention some of the newer overclocks... 566--> I haven't played with it, but don't they go up to 900... What's the use of this thing...

i don't think so... the celeron is just bad. P3 isn't that bad. I believe a Celeron 766 is roughly equal to a P3-550.
