Anandtech Auctions?

My guess is that Anandtech has a pretty decent size community and very loyal followers like me.
I wonder if they could make money based on this by creating an auction site similiar to ebay but by using heatware accounts for feedback?
I for one would much rather deal with fellow members than anyone else.
I may also be way out of line!

We're collectively too cheap and too smart to use an auction system. The buyers would insist on getting a great price, and the sellers would want a decent profit margin. The two don't mix.

While I like your progressive thinking, the need just isnt there or there would be a outcry for it. the FS/FT forum is great for what they need it for... and honestly, once a need does come along, it's typically answered with quickness. (ie http://pics.bbzzdd.com)

why try and compete with ebay?

Because Ebay sucks and is full of too many scammers and trolls!
If the auction site were to be successful, you'd have to make the new users take a computer knowledge test and not let them in unless they scored 80 or above. 😉

of course though, the people here are smart enough such that any auction would be extended by 1 minute after the last bid so we could avoid sniping.

And, another of course: some of the people here would disagree with my first "of course" because they like to be cheap bastards.

And, of course, a 3rd of course: None of us would want to sell to you cheap bastards who do nothing but snipe.
