Anand's 9800 review

hehehe 9800pro and 9600pro out from ATI and the gap between nvidia and ati widens and the 9700pro drops to 299... i think i can sum it up for nvidia with "ahh shiznit"
 
Ok ATI i love the new ATI 9800 pro and yes its fast but i still want faster ATI. ATI please bring on your super secret weapon video card that will blow everyone so much away we can't believe it! I am talking like 60 to 80 fps minimum fps in games even in unreal 2003, doom 3, Comm. 4, Unreal 2, etc at 1600x1200 with all details on maximum !!!!!!!! Plus maximum FSAA (6x) and maximum AF (16x) setting on Quality not performence. Inless ATI you want to make FSAA to 8x or even 16x with no performence decrease to really blow everyone away! Plus maybe make AF at 32x too with no performence decrease hehe! But remember ATI these settings with minimum fps of 60 to 80 fps. So that means average fps will be around 90 to 100 fps + at 1600x1200 with all detials on maximum. Plus maximum FSAA and maximum AF on Quality not performence!

I know everyone i want too much speed but hey whats wrong with trying to dream? Heck it may become a reality sooner than we think with this great video card battle! I think ATI i can do it and will do it soon!

agreed, beat the brains outta each other...better for us consumers indeed...well now i might try and get myself in on a 9500 pro or 9700 pro sometime 😀.

These new vidy cards are fine and dandy and such.

But show me the lower prices!!!

Must .... have .... seriously .... good .... performance .... for .... $200. That's all I can spare, if I'm lucky!

Heck, I'll even take one of those "slow" nVidia Ultra vidy thingys for $200 if that's all I can get. Hehe.

Is the new F-Buffer on the 9800 the same as the Geforce FX's ability to handle almose unlimited shader instructions?😕
 
I was a little disappointed in the R350. I was expecting higher core and memory speeds but with 2 texture units per pipeline. All well, we can always wait for the NV40 and the R400.:frown:
 
Thank god the 9800 Pro is'nt insanely faster than the 9700 Pro or my 9500>hacked9700, or I would be nevously, endlessly thinking about getting one. Whew.

Did you take a look at AA/AF scores? Frankly, with a card like that, those are the only numbers I'm interested in, because if I'm spending $399 on a card I sure as hell better be using AA/Af.

I think you might have just described the R400. The only changes they would need to make are to add 4 pipelines, put Truform back on the core, up the clocks a bit, and improve features such as 8x AA, supersample AA, and so on. Peace.

With the only games I play my rad9500pro is already enough kill for cs, gaming at 1600x1200 with 6xAA/16xAF perf. it looks good dandy already. But playing ut2k3 at 1280x1024 HQ with just a little bit of AF (4x) I'm a little tempted for a 9700 pro since the price will drop... but I still can't afford one yet 🙁
