Anands 760MPX review

MP 1900+ make P4 xeon's look like cyrix.

Now from the other thread on Northwood, people were be saying that they feel justified in paying more for the P4 b/c it's faster...but in this case, you're paying more for less 😉

I'd say quite a bit less, in fact, the northwood costs around 700 (pure guess), so if people are willing to pay around 3 times more for around 10% performance gain (over an Athlon 1900), then Athlon MP 1900's should be around 900 dollars a piece, compared to their intel (Intel P4 Xeon 1700) counterparts which cost around $300.

I haven't seen any northwoods scores...Are you just interpolating based on the Arse kickin the 1.7ghz and in quite a few cases when anandtech gave us an idea the 1.9ghz p4?????

The 2.2ghz northwoods will need to beat the athlons by 30percent plus to justify price...at 700 for just one chip I could buy the 2 1900+mps and pay a nice down on the mpx board....

Edit: Did you notice that once again sse2 compiling of software wasn't the great saver they (intel) made everybody think would happen to make up for the neutered FPU?????

I read it and it didn't quite make the 30percent advantage over the 1900+....sweet scores but for 270% the cost that is outrageous....

I can get the 2 chips and the mpx for damn near that price of the chip alone and if I used it in multithreaded programs it would be hands down the amd chips win...for near same dman price...OUCH!!!!!
