That show went to shit a long time ago.
Having three or four 5 minute advertisements is too much. Having douchebags on the show all the time is too much.
I like John Dvorak and I watch Crankygeeks to get my fix of him.

Wow, I came in here to post almost exactly the same thing. I used to be a loyal TWiT listener (TWiT, Windows Weekly and a couple of others) but man, the ads are just too much and some of the guests are just huge fuckheads. I also quit Cranky Geeks, but only because I already have a ton of podcasts to listen to (CG is pretty good still). I get most of my tech fix from Buzz Out Loud.That show went to shit a long time ago.

LOL people still listen to TWiT? I stopped listening to any TWiT podcasts because the advertising became unbearable. And even when they're not advertising 80% of TWiT content is social media and of the remaining 20%, 95% is copyright/patent ramblings.
These days, like my bro, I listen to BOL daily. But I'm about to stop listening to that too for the very same reasons - it's really not a tech podcast, it's a consumer gadgets podcast that also discusses social media and copyright/patent ramblings. Ugh, the tech media sucks mostly.

Agreed. They sneak in that stupid audible.com ad and it runs 10 mins sometimes. It's ridiculous. What does a tech podcast have to do with audio books other than they play on a computer?
Steve Gibson is on this one, he's an idiot. He still runs Win2k because he thinks because it's old it's the most secure. He also turns off Javascript on his browser for every site
This is the same guy who claimed Windows XP was going to be the death of the Internet due to raw sockets. Leo Laporte's giddy admiration for this guy show me that he zero clue about anything. BOL sucks since Tom left. Mollywood is unbearable. All she just does is complain. Tom does Tech News Today on TWIT which is pretty good. No long ads and no Leo. A good alternative to BOL. Tom is always to the point and keeps the show on topic.

Do you listen to TWiT? It's extremely hard to tell where the ads begin and end. Sometimes they will finish an ad, only to bring it back up a minute or two later and keep it running for another 5 mins. Sometimes the ads go for literally 10-15 minutes.

Thank fucking god I'm not the only one who thinks so. All of the rabid Buzz fans seem to be fucking in love with her. I hate her. Maybe I will check out Tom's new gig. Honestly though for the past couple of weeks I have wanted to cut my own fucking dick off every time I listen to/read tech news. We get it, the iPhone has a shitty antenna. Give it a fucking rest, "tech" media.
Well, Tom is great but his co-hosts Becky Worley and Sarah Lane (they are from TechTV) get a little grating.
Listened to this on the way to work today and wow, Anand was fantastic! I've been on this site for 12 years now and never really heard the guy speak for any extended period of time. I am impressed. He came off eloquent and unbiased. He didn't get sucked into the trollbait Leo and Dvorak were trying to set him up for. He just stood his ground and told it like it is. Go Anand!

BTW, does anyone know of any real tech podcasts - eg podcasts that discuss actual technology and hardware in detail, nut just consumer gadget podcasts?

Read above, I don't listen to TWiT podcasts anymore. Also it's Leo, so it will be 90% social networking discussions (between the ads).

Leo is not on This Week in Computer Hardware, and they do not have much in the way of advertising support either so you may want to make an exception.
The other really tech show that is available on TWiT.TV is PC Perspective which is 7pm PST. Very techie, no social media discussion.

This is why I don't have much interest in Leo's podcasts anymore. I think he sees himself as some sort of visionary, but his vision of the Internet is really lame.
What's with all the Leo Laporte hate? i don't really listen to twit, but I use to love that guy on TSS
