You have got to read the Weblog Anand has up now. There is some good stuff in there :).

http://www.anandtech.com/weblog/index.html

I'm heading over to the lab to meet Derek Wilson, our new CPU/GPU editor in training to work on a new suite of graphics tests for an upcoming GPU review. Are there any games that you'd absolutely love to see included in future GPU reviews? I can't guarantee that they'll make it in but we'll definitely try. Let me know either by responding to the comments section associated with this post.

I've got an 8AM class tomorrow (on Solid State) so it won't be a late night of benchmarking, but we'll get some framework done I'm hoping.

I wonder what it is...

EDIT after rethinking my first :Q-comment (next-gen) and my second ;)-comment (p4-EE?) i'm back to the :Q

Well it's the Radeon 9800XT I suppose. But it would also be nice with some benches on the XGI Volari and/or the S3 DeltaChrome :)

That's true, but Anand didn't say anything about a next gen GPU, Evan Lieb did. I think he was referring to another upcoming review and not the one Anand referred to.

I think when he said 'next gen CPU' he meant, Prescott. Since the A64 is already out, this ain't it, and the Prescott or P5 or whatever in the hell they will call it is Due out on Dec 3rd, so I guess this would qualify as next-gen CPU?

Maybe for the next Gen GPU he meant the next line of Nvidia's cards. How about a PCI-X Video Card, but OTOH it's gotta be way to early to start benching stuff like that unless there are engineering samples of motherboards with a working PCI-X chipset??

Just speculation, just like the Inquirer does a lot

Prescott? now? LOL.. you're far off the track - It's most likely P4EE he's going to review... and as for the next-gen GPU, it's most likely XGI Volari, SIS Delta Chrome or the now-infamous Radeon 9800XT.

PCI-X Graphic Cards? you're way out of your minds also LOL - I'm going to rephrase what you said -

Maybe for the next Gen GPU he meant the next line of Nvidia's cards. How about a PCI-X Video Card, but OTOH it's gotta be way to early to start benching stuff like that unless there are engineering samples of motherboards with a working PCI-X chipset??

It should be: How about a PCI-Express Video card but OTOH it's gotta be way to early to start benching stuff like that unless there are engineering samples of motherboards with a working PCI-Express chipset??

PCI-X will only be server-based and bandwith-limited compared to the PCI-Express specifications. It's available, PCI-Express isn't available on motherboards at least until December / Q1 2004 and the cards will come in Q1 2004 as both nV and ATI aren't going to produce a PCI-Express card at the end of the year. I thought I'd drop my two cents on this issue, and hopefully I've helped you out a bit ;)

you guys are cracking me up:D

my first post was "next gen can't be... should be the p4-ee (but wait it's already tested in the a64 review).... so it must be next gen."
then evan says "jepp, that's the one". and we were talking CPU gentlemen.

anand didn't mention "next gen" at all while talking GPU, so he's probably testing either 9800xt, nv38 ot some volari or delta chrome... (my bet goes for 9800xt or/and nv38)

come on guys!!!!
is it so hard to read???

The blog makes it seem like he's testing 1 NEW GPU. Probably Volari. I would sure as hell LOVE to see a 9800XT/FX5950/Volari/DeltaChrome shootout, but then again I am a wishful thinker.

And how much longer until the "next gen CPU" benchmark is released?

/me hopes it's 9800XT and 9600XT...

the mainstream line dont get nearly as much attention as they should imho, given I beleive they outsell their performance sibling by a long way?

I wonder if Anand ever brings his girlfriend into the lab :Q HEH. We all want to see what the heck he's up to... damnation to the NDA and spill the beans.... oh wait, that would ruin the surprise. :|

Same here. They should start having tours of their lab, that would rock. But only if they have a lab on the west coast so I can go to one. Otherwise you east coast guys shouldn't get anything either. ;)
