Anand has the non profit set up now and ready to accept donations i would like to encourage everyone to do what they can to help. As someone who is personally involved with a similar situation at my workplace I have personally witnessed the difference that even a modest contribution can make. The thing to keep in mind is this ordeal not only effects the cancer victim but greatly impacts the members of the victims family as well. Although we may not be able to stop the progression of their disease if we can to anything to alleviate the emotional strain and the fear that comes from an uncertain future for the victims and their families then we should do it in whatever small way that we can. Here is the address to send any donations.

Just wanted to make sure everyone realized that while the group is non-profit, the donations are not tax deductible.

sciencewhiz is right. The group is non-profit but we haven't gotten tax exempt status yet, that process takes even longer and we wanted to start helping Jeremy immediately. So for now, the donations are not tax deductible.

Take care,
Anand

Anybody know if he still has the bacterial infection problems? If so, is it due to a low white blood cell count? If that is the case, I may have something that will help him - Neupogen, which they give to chemo patients whose white blood cell count has been depleted. Leftover from when my mom was battling cancer, it's still got 2 years left on the exp. date. Stuff costs like $1000 for (10) 1cc injections ... no wonder Amgen's stock has gone up. Have no use for it and can deliver (I live in Columbus as does Jeremy).

I forgot to mention that it only makes a difference if you itemize your deductions. I'm not a tax expert but my guess is that most people don't itemize, so it won't make any difference.

Hi All,
Sorry about the lack of posts or replies, just have not felt the best to be on the computer lately. There is just something about being on a 31.2 internet connection that keeps me from really wanting to do much on the Internet. They are supposed to be getting cable in my area this month, so I will be getting on the Internet a bit more when that happens.

As for little things... the foot infection that I have gone through is pretty much gone now. I have been on a groschon drip for the last month since leaving the hospital and it has pretty much cleared up the foot. I will know for sure on Wed if every thing is fine for sure. Now the biggest thing is going to get the legs into a little better shape so I can walk better. Sittying back on the recliner couch all of the time to keep your feet off the ground is one of the easiest way to make it harder to walk.

Now.. I just wanted to thank Anand for starting this Cancer Society Group to help out with all of the bills that need to be taken care of on my end, especially with AGN and Pseudo having gone bye bye... I am stuck in the lack of incoming money due to no severence pay till the end of the year like I was supposed to receive. I have to admit that I am going to miss agn.. or at least the posting the daily news posts :)

If anyone is interested in dropping an email to me.. you can get jeremy_allford@hotmail.com and I will get back to you. Will shut up and head off now..

Jeremy

Although currently donations aren't tax deductible I personally can't see the problem in that we aren't doing this for a tax deduction are we? This an act of compassion for someone in need. The taxability of the donation should be a non issue.
