Analog vs DVI input to LCD monitors, how much difference?

I really like the features of my Matrox g450etv video card. Obviously I don't do any gaming? I would like to get a LCD monitor. Is it even worth it w/o a DVI video card?

yeah i was curious about the difference too?

I kind of made the assumption that since it wouldn't have to go from digital to analog on the video card then from analog to digital on the LCD end... Problems like ghosting may be reduced because of a slightly better response time?

And that since it's a digital signal there wouldn't be signal quality loss due to interference on the cable.

Can anyone confirm these hypothesizes ?

IMHO the difference is like night and day.

Your LCD is brighter, more vivid, there are no signal issues (i.e. pixel clock fuzziness at times), etc.

I really didn't think that I would notice the difference until I tried a DVI card. Truthfully, until I put my LCD on a DVI connection I just liked my LCD, now I love it. ;)

Go down to Fry's or Best Buy, get a DVI card, test the difference. If you agree, keep the card, if not return it. No worries...

Yes, it is worth getting a DVI input on an LCD and a DVI output on your video card. I just switched from a Matrox G450 with dual CRTs with excellent 2D and installed a new LCD as a replacement. I was not happy until I removed the Matrox and replaced it with a Ti4400 and used its digital output. Now my display is equal to or better than my previous Matrox 450 2d whcih was excellent. IMHO,,you experience with card and monitor may vary.
