Analog Video capture cards

Hi.

I'm looking to buy a a card to allow me to do best quality possible analog video capture, both PAL and NTSC. A tuner would be a nice to have, (as would the ability to integrate with a future dual-head card). Neither are though essential.

It looks like I can buy very cheap cards which do this (about $50), but they don't have onboard hardware compression and are reported to load the CPU heavily, which, over long captures is surely likely to lead to dropped frames? I want something which will run reliably over a period of several hours without problems.

I've spent the whole afternoon reading card reviews and most of them seem to focus on the cards gaming performance not how well it can capture....

Can anyone suggest a card that would suit my purposes? Or a good starting point that isn't focussed on gaming at least?

In hope,

ian
