Analog OK-- Digital Check signal cable

Hello,
I have a 6600GT 2DVI Video card and a Samsung Synchmaster Digital/analog monitor. When I hook up the analog cable to the video card with the adaptor, everything works great however when I swap to the digital cable without the adaptor, (go straight digital) I get Check signal cable. Any ideas whats going on?
