I want to use my microsoft sidewinder precision pro analog joystick but my creative Xfi card doesn't have a analog port on it.

I really don't want to buy a usb joystick for the rare occassion I would use it so I'm wondering if anyone has used an analog to usb adapter.

belkin adapter at the nerds.com

This belkin gets aweful reviews but at amazon.com someone wrote a review and said this is specifically for the sidewinder precision pro and very few if any others will be supported.

Other than this belkin has anyone used a mayflash adapter?

Many of these adapters offered are passive, working only with the rare few controllers that do support USB mode anyhow. Same thing as with those USB-PS2 mice that come with that little green adapter.

Now, active USB-gameport adapters do exist, I own one (after returning TWO of the above), and it works well. It's self-calibrating (by wiggling the joystick to its axis extremes), it has four selectable modes, and it registers properly as a USB HID.

Here it is (german page):

The gameport->usb adapter works with only some Precision Pros. I think if yours didn't come with the adapter, it's not supported. I don't remember the specifics, but I know they aren't compatible with mine.
