Analog audio options

I currently watch blu-rays using a matx htpc. My LCD TV is connected using DVI and I use the onboard realtek audio to connect to logitech Z-5300s. This setup is reasonably good.

My sister bought a PS3 and I want to take advantage of its blu-ray capabilities, but I have a feeling getting the audio to work as well as it does from my PC will be tough since my speakers are strictly analog. What would be the best way to get the PS3 working as a blu-ray player as well as my PC?

I don't have a ps3 so i'm not sure; but, if it has rca audio outputs you can get an adapter to plug your pc speakers in that way.

a quick search revield that you can buy the older cable for the ps2 and use it with the connector on the back of the ps3.

at least that is the way the info read about that older, proprietary sony connector on the back of the ps3.

edit: i tried to find the adapter, but monoprices site is being worked on. that ps2 cable i linked to on amazon is just for picture reference. you may want to look else were. or at least read the reviews and ratings on that cable and seller. cable doesn't seem to be oem.

The only problem is you won't be getting dolby digital out of the PS3 that way. Unfortunately I believe you will have to pony up for an upgrade of some sort. You could buy a speaker set with a digital input, get a HTIB or get a receiver and some speakers.

I don't see any way of getting digital surround otherwise.
