I was hoping someone could help me out. I have just got a new pc that has 2 sound ports on the front (pink and green if it matters). What I want to do is have one that is an analog input so I can plug in a guitar and record from it. Then I would like the other one to be a headphone socket. I have a Soundblaster Live 5.1 and found the datasheet/manual here:
http://www.soundblaster.com/manuals/Platinum51.pdf

This is connected to an Abit NF7-S however the onboard sound is disabled so I am assuming I can?t use any of the motherboard audio plugs. The plugs coming from my case (Antec Sonata) were in the form of a so called ?Intel Standard 10 pin connector? but I pulled this apart and now have 7 separate signal wires. From the manual they are listed as name and description as follows:

MIC - Microphone power pin
MIC-BIAS - Microphone input
AUD_GND - Ground
FPOUT-R - Front Right Speaker Out
FPOUT-L - Front Left Speaker Out
RET-R - Rear Right Speaker Out (Optional/If supported)
RET-L - Rear Left Speaker Out (Optional/If supported)

Now I think it should be possible to connect some of these pins to the AUX IN Connector on the soundcard (4 pin) to get an analog input. Does anyone know what the pins on the analog input are? I think they may be R,G,G,L like cd analog cables but am unsure. Even so I don?t know what to connect to make it work. As for the headphones I am not sure. Any suggestions on how I can do this?
