I'm helping a friend choose a computer and she is allowed up to $1200 and must be from a store in our local area. To name a few retailers in the area would be Best Buy, Dell, Gateway, Walmart, Circuit City which is all I can think of right now.
She needs the tower, keyboard, mouse, printer (may something comparable to a HP psc 1210), and a monitor.
The ideal tower would be.
If possible amd64
1 gb pc3200 (512mb if cost too much)
At least 80gb hd 7200 rpm
decent dvd burner
decent onboard video would be ok (would like an agp slot for future upgrade)
onboard sound ok
she wanted a 17in flat panel lcd but I don't think its going to happen.
