I'm not really sure what's more American than exercising our freedoms as guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. You don't need to be a warmonger to be patriotic. It's no surprise- they lie all the time. Streisand and Whoopi were supposed to go with him and scores of others. Because quite frankly, sounds to me like he's spouting off like anyone else, but at the end of the day, he's a 70-something fiddle-sawyer who uses his station to preach his viewpoints. Not all that different from Martin Sheen when you get right down to it. One's a conservative, the other's liberal. They're both just spouting off.

Where did I say I was defending them? They have exactly as much right to their view as you do to yours. Just because you disagree is no reason to attack them. If you think anyone actually follows hollywood actors "mindlessly", you are gravely mistaken. They get more media attention due to their fame and money, but that doesn't actually sway people's views.

If you actually believe that, then more power to you. Do you think you might be the slightest bit biased being a conservative yourself? Is it any different from a liberal feeling the same way about liberals and their decisions? Nope. However, you are so sure you are superior and as a result, feel you have no reason to even open your mind to something different than what you think. Many heavy liberals are guilty of the exact same thing. As soon as you consider your views so superior that you don't even need to remotely listen to something different, you realy lose out IMO.

It is indeed your thread, on a public forum. The last time I checked, there were no restrictions on who can post in what threads. I have no need to start a thread bashing anyone as it serves no meaningful purpose. I try to keep myself open to both sides of every topic...you learn a lot more that way.

You bet it sways people's views! They're taking advantage of their bigger podium (a TV show, entertainment award shows...). The average mindless couch potato who has a neutral "where are my pork rinds" mindset who suddenly gets interested in politics starts watching The West Wing and the brainwashing ensues. Guess what's next? He's wandering outside to make a dumbass of himself in anti-war protests. But that's ok, because he has the right to do so and America welcomes the poor and wretched, the idiots and the morons. Somehow, it's what makes us great.

But it doesn't matter. You know why? Because the majority of America supports our forthcoming actions, and there's not a damn thing you liberals can do to stop it. Nothing. And it will turn out for the better and have been the right thing to do. So save your loudmouth energy to climb back into your trees to keep them from being chopped down to make the kitchen table and dinette set you plan on buying next weekend.
