An old via board.....

Does anyone knows how high can my old TS-AVD1 (via 693) support P3 ? I just think I could use it for sometime and upgrade it soon.... I've been using it with my p3 550e.

Yes, the VIA 693 Chipset (Apollo Pro 133) can support the P3. Performance is horrible compared to the 694 Apollo Pro 133A chipset though.

693 is Apollo Pro+, a 100 MHz chipset. It does run P-III 100-MHz-bus types as well, provided the rest of the mainboard is up to it (mind the differences in pinout and voltages).

btw, Apollo Pro133 chip is 693A, whose memory performance were exactly the same as on 694X ... if the mainboard makers would bother updating their BIOSes to support memory interleaving and such.

I think my mobo does support 133mhz bus ( it's a via 693A . Just wonder that will work on the high end P3 chip with my mobo like 933 ? There's a lot of high end cpu out there. When I bought my P3 550e the Ghz cpu not even arrived yet but now look at the market all types of Ghz cpu in sale and intel will release their Itanium chip. I just can't catch up with all these cpu stuff
