An old rig project

I've got 2 available pcs around my house that are in need of a re-vamp. I'm debating which one to restore tho, in one corner, ive got a pIII slot 1. 450 MHZ, with an AGP 2x slot, and next to it, i have a Celeron 400 MHz socket 370, no AGP slot, but 3 PCI, now I could get a 750 MHz slot 1 processor for the first one, and a 900 MHz celeron for the other, my question is this, what's the difference between AGP 2x, and PCI? I have a rage 128 pro, 32 mb agp for the agp, but a geforce 2 mx 400 for the PCI, which would be better? I would be hooking this system upto my network and playing games like warcraft 3, age of mythology, quake 3 arena, and I would like to TRY and see if halo works. Any thoughts/comments would be appreciated 😉

I would take the Geforce2 MX 400.

AGP means that if it is needed, the graphics card can use RAM to load textures onto it. It wasn't very usful until 2000 and up where 4xAGP took over and then 8x. PCI is a slower version of AGP, but still very quick. The ATI rage 128 is too slow and ancient compared to the the Geforce2MX400 and PCI isn't that much worse than AGP. You will also get added compatability with games if you go geforce2 because of it's built in T&L engine unlike the Rage. And I also think that the Geforce2MX400 comes with 64MB of VRAM IIRC and that would make a big difference in performance.
